Again, I Come to You

Pamela GM Smith
Today is so hard, Dear God,
I don't know what to do.
I can't seem to get above the water,
so again, I come to you.

I know you do not give us
more than we can bear,
but today I do struggle,
so I lift my hands in prayer.

Every step I take forward
I get knocked back two.
I can not do it all alone
so again, I come to you.

I do not ask to be special
or to gain any more than another.
I do not want "more than enough"
or to take away from my brother.

I ask for knowledge and strength,
for the ability to get it all done,
to rise above my hardest struggles,
to get by and carry on.

I ask, Dear God, for guidance,
for strength that will last till the end,
to go where you would have me go,
so to you I come again.

I know the light is there
although I can't see it right now.
I know you will provide for me,
I just don't know when or how.

I lay it at your feet, Dear God,
I'm not strong enough today.
I can not carry this heavy load
so again, to you I pray.

I'll gladly follow you blindly
and know that you have a plan.
I'll keep on struggling toward the top
because I know I'll find your hand...

reaching out to pull me up,
to guide me along the way.
I'll keep my faith and trust in you
and look toward a better day.

Although right now it seems so hard
and I don't know what to do,
I know in the end I'll be much stronger,
Together we'll make it through.
