Agencies that Will Help You Pay Your Power Bill

Sunshine Red
With the price of gas and everything else going up it's hard to just pay for the basics that you need, such as electric. The electric company will disconnect you if you don't pay your bill. But there are agencies that will and can help you keep your electric on when you are short on cash that you may not be aware of. When you get a disconnection notice from the Power Company giving you just a few days left to pay the bill you should start calling these agencies for assistance with the bill. You won't want to wait till the day before your disconnect day to try to get help.

The first place to start when looking for agencies to help you pay your bill would be the Power Company. They usually have a list of places that will help you and can give you local numbers to call for assistance. If you can not get extra time to come up with the money yourself your only other option would be to call agencies to see if they could help you with your power bill.

The Salvation Army will help people pay for electric bills if they have a disconnect notice from the Power Company. Most of the time all you have to do is call them and ask if they have any funds available to assist you with paying your bill. Your local Power Company may have the phone number of the local Salvation Army in your city. While the agency won't pay your full bill, they can pay enough to help you make it through another month without interruption in service.

Your Department of Social Services would be another place to contact and ask if they have money to assist with your power bill. Again, this agency usually requires that you have a disconnect notice from the Power Company. They may require you to pay a portion of the bill before they will pay the rest, but they do help with power bills.

Local Churches and non profit organizations in the community may also help with power bills. Many churches have programs to help assist people with their bills when they can not pay them to keep the service on.

These organizations will usually help with Power Bills year round and help people when they need money to pay the power bills. Sometimes you can work out extra time with the power company but if you can't do that calling an agency to assistance may be your only option. You don't have to go without power there are places that can help you with the bills.
