First, I tried several European and fruit facials. While these treatments got rid of the residue of urban grime and were delightful blissful treats, I sensed I needed something a bit stronger. However, I'm a wimp. Any procedure involving needles gives me the willies. Even photos of red faced models faces post-microdermabrasion make me cringe.
Then I heard about a procedure called plasma microablation, which is designed to brighten and tighten dull skin, reduce fine lines and sun spots, and reduce acne. Kristen Haines, owner of Manhattan based Euphoria Spa, explained how she got hooked on this non-abrasive FDA approved treatment when was the only procedure that got rid of her hormonal breakouts on her chin. As an added bonus, she found plasma microblation also diminished the dehydration lines around her eyes.
At Kristen's suggestion, I had the combo fresh air facial with plasma microblation. My treatment started out with two facial and decollet cleansings followed by a series of customized masks and peels, fresh air and Vitamin C sprays, an exfoliating mineral lip buffing and finishing with a vitimin-infused gloss, and of course, the necessary manual extractions around my nose. By the time Kristin gave me a pressure-point facial massage creates natural face lift, along with neck, arm, shoulder and foot rub, I was in an alternative universe.
As comforting as this facial was for me, I was here not just for a calming cleaning but I needed help reduce the signs of aging on my face. My plasma microblation began with a refreshing saline misted over my skin. This salt water spray created a plasma field to the dermis, resulting in super sterilizing, tightening, hydrating and revitalizing of the epidermis. I experienced a slight tingling which was refreshing not painful. At the end, I emerged with no down time or redness, though I chose not to put on make-up preferring to let my skin glow naturally for the evening.
While I do not have any known allergies, Kristen noted that the treatment I received can be amended for those who have allergies to scented products. As the machine uses electricity, plasma microblation is not recommended for those who are pregnant.
Kristen recommends that her clients begin to have this procedure around their fortieth birthday, adding that plasma microblation is suitable for anyone as long as they have some elasticity in their skin. Ideally, one should have this treatment once a month as frequently applications will boost more collagen. However, even one application will provide hydration to combat traveling in airplanes and the everyday stress of urban living.
