AGT 2010: 3rd Live Quarter Final Results Show

CJ Dippa and the Belly Dancers Are Left Out of the Semi Finals

Nick Cannon started off the night on America's Got Talent asking Howie Mandel about his comments on the 'wow factor' last night. In fact, he called him "Howie Wowie" after the judge repeatedly chastized acts for not having a wow moment. Howie explained to Nick that "wow means wow, if there were another word for it I would use it."

Piers Morgan jumped in to throw a few bashes Howie's way calling him "Howie Halfwit" after the comedian's choices thus far in the comedy category. This is well deserved, I think, since the comedy acts have been atrocious this year on AGT.

Howie Mandel battled back saying that Piers Morgan is doing the PR circuits and "besmirching his name". Howie went on to refer to Morgan as a "besmirch-er" when they later were confronting Chipps Cooney, the source of the trouble last night.

The live results finally got started as Nick Cannon called the first three acts to the stage: South Philly Vikings, CJ Dippa and Haspop. I got a fleeting sick feeling that young rapper CJ Dippa might beat out the amazing dance of Haspop. Luckily America got it right and voted to send Haspop on to the AGT 2010 semi finals. I was a little shocked to see CJ Dippa leave so early. I thought he would be a possible judges pick tonight.

Dance crew and former AGT contestants, Jabberwocky, took over the stage next. There is a reason these guys are now headlining a show at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Jabberwocky reach out and grab the audience from the costumes, complete with white masks, to some of the best hip hop ever.

Nick Cannon called out the next group of contestants: Chipps Cooney, Studio One Young Beast Society and Polina Volchek joined him. Howie Mandel took the opportunity to tell Chipps Cooney to go back to his original act (which was only mildly funny at best) and America would grow to love him. Piers Morgan reaffirmed his belief that Howie is crazy. Studio One Young Beast Society thankfully took the spot in the AGT 2010 semi finals. Now if they would just shorten their name.

Keeping it moving, the next set of hopefuls came out: Strange Familiar, Debra Romer and Luigi. None of these singing acts were on target last night, but Romer was the obvious favorite with her beauty and sad back story. She won a spot in the semi finals, as Piers predicted.

Mike Posner performed his hit "Cooler Than Me". It was a decent performance, but as Howie would say 'there was no wow for me'.

Finally the last group of this week's quarter final contestants were led to the stage: Harmonica Pierre, Kaya & Sadie and Jeremy Vanschoonhoven. I was really hoping Jeremy would move on, there are too many belly dancers in Vegas. I thought sure the judges would choose Kaya & Sadie, or at least both male judges would choose them. I was wrong. Sharon cast her vote first for Jeremy Vanschoonhoven. Nick threw it to Piers Morgan second and after hemming and hawing, he too finally chose Jeremy. Howie Mandel said that he would have chosen Jeremy also, but added he thought Kaya & Sadie should go to his house. Doubtful Howie, but look for Chipps Cooney and a strip tease in your backyard!

At the end of the night Haspop, Studio One Young Beast Society, Debra Romer and Jeremy Vonschoonhoven earned their places in the AGT 2010 semi final rounds. Next week we'll see the last quarter final round, and find out the who the final 12 contestants are for the million dollar prize.
