AGT 2010: Prince Poppycock & Michael Grimm Head to the Finals

ArcAttack was Shockingly Overlooked

The first night of live semifinal results for America's Got Talent were surprising to say the least. At one point it seemed that Howie Mandel had broken Twitter while live tweeting during the show. Many watching were shocked as a few major acts were dropped before the finals.

The first group Nick Cannon called to the stage was: ArcAttack, Dan Sperry, Future Funk and Kristina Young. This was a no-brainer for AGT 2010 fans. AcrAttack has been electrifying the audience from the start of the season, literally. When Nick finally opened the envelope though, none of these acts were voted into the finals.

Recycled Percussion took the AGT stage for a return performance. They sound just as good as ever and now have their own show in Vegas, despite not winning.

Jimmy Fallon came out, I thought just to pimp his Emmy ceremony gig, but he was actually quite funny. He did impressions of other comedians, and did them well. I forgot how funny Jimmy Fallon can be. I still don't want to watch him for any length of time.

Nick Cannon summoned the second group to the stage: Ascendance and Anna & Patryk. This did not bode well for my picks last night. Ascendance have been my personal favorite, but that sinking feeling I had was right. Last night was not their best performance. Anna & Patryk were advanced to the final round of AGT 2010.

Pop singer Kylie Monogue gave a typical pop performance by today's standards. I just don't enjoy any singer with track music. Bret Michaels took the stage with only his guitar, that is a performance.

I started fearing the worst when Nick Cannon called out the next group: Michael Grimm, Prince Poppycock and Taylor Matthews. Of the three acts last night, Taylor Matthews was the shakiest. To put Michael Grimm or Prince Poppycock out this early would be a sin though. Happily, Nick Cannon pronounced all three acts safe and moving on to the finals.

All that were left were called to the stage: Antonio Restivo, Christina & Ali and Connor Doran. I assumed Antonio Restivo would move on, I just really hoped he wouldn't cry. To my surprise, and obviously his, Restivo was eliminated first. The judges now had to choose between the singing sisters and the kite flier.

Piers Morgan hemmed and hawed and finally decided on Christina & Ali. Howie Mandel settled on Connor Doran, leaving Sharon Osbourne with the final vote.

"Do I break two hearts or do I break one? I'm going to break one." said Sharon, sending Connor the kite flier home. The singing sisters with Cystic Fibrosis, Christina & Ali, will continue on AGT 2010.

So our first five acts in the finals are: Anna & Patryk, Michael Grimm, Prince Poppycock, Taylor Matthews, and Christina & Ali.

Watch the other 12 semifinalists perform live next Tuesday at 9/8c on NBC. If you missed last night's live acts, catch up here.

I am not surprise at all. ArcAttack was boring & Antonio was just full of smoke & fire & no substance. The other remaining magician, Michael Grasso, is much more captivating w/o all the heavy make-up & crazy hair. Taylor got the tweenies'votes, and you know those girls can text. Chirtina & Ali...well, as much as I feel bad for their lots, I don't think the younger one's singing is all that good, especially when she tried to hit the high note. Let me tell ya, she's no Carrie Underwood, or Christina Aguilera. This little girl's attempt was just plain awful. My ears are still bleeding from listening to her, as a matter of fact, I need to stuff another cotton balls in my ears now...LOL. They just got the sympathy votes, for now, but I don't see them as winners. The show producers are not stupid enough to have them as headliners. No one in his right mind would pay good money to see them messing with his hearing...LOL. Michael Grimm is the real deal. He obviou

I was really surprised to see ArcAttack and Antonio Restivo go home. I for sure thought they would be the picks going on from the groups they were in on stage. Can't believe that Taylor Mathews and Christina & Alli made it to the top 10.

Not to be mean, but I've thought all along that America would not understand what ArcAttack does and it would be reflected in their voting. Maybe Howie is right in saying that their act doesn't play as well on TV as it does live. They were one of my top ten picks.
