It is amazing that people like this make it into public office. You would think that people who do these kinds of things would have something show up in their background checks when they apply for employment. Most sexual offenders have previous offenses or accusations since their early teens. People like this sometimes work their way into positions of great power, such as Texas prosecutor Bill Conradt Jr.. According to Associated Press, the attorney was caught up in a sting that was setup by the cast of MSNBC's To Catch A Predator series, a show where they lure online sexual predators to a vacant house posing as a young teen looking for sex. When the offender shows up at the house the show's host, Chris Hanson, comes out and explains to the guy who they are and what they have been caught up in. Evidently, Conradt met one of the show's decoys online and began conversing with what he thought to be a young boy. They started to talk on the phone and Conradt eventually agreed to meet the boy at a later date for sex, that is when the decision was made by police to go to Conradt's house and arrest him. Apparently before they could get in the house and arrest him Conradt shot himself with his own gun in the head, killing himself instantly.
It is absolutely chilling to think that a public prosecutor is trying to have sex with young boys, all the while leading a double life as an alleged public servant. Mr. Rosato is no better in my mind, both men perpetuate the same sickness in our society. It sure makes you wonder how thorough the background checks are when people are applying for positions such as the one Rosato held. Stories like this never seem to stop popping up on the news ticker. Stiffer penalties don't seem to be the answer either, one thing that always stuck out when watching the To Catch A Predator show was how much these men were willing to risk just for the slight chance at having sex with a minor. Most of them even thought that it was a trap yet they went anyway. What a world.

Post a CommentThank you Poinciana. I just find it incredible how much risk these people are willing to take. This guy Rosato was an aide to a Senator, pretty darn good job, yet was willing to risk all that plus god only knows what else just to get pictures of children having sex. It just shows you how compelling their illness (for lack of a less victimized term) really is. I actually know a woman who monitors sexual offenders out in the city, and she said dealing with them is really creepy. I asked her why she does it and she said that it makes her feel good knowing where they all are and what they are up to, like she is helping the community. God bless her. Thank you for the welcome comment, it was nice to see. - Jim J.
