To start with, you always want to remember the power. Take the negative battery cable off from the post and do not let it touch anything metal. This is how it makes a ground, so in turn you do not want any power reasserting itself through the system while you are working. Now take the lead connector off from the wiring harness connector for the blower motor. This is a simple click on and off connector, and should be easy to remove.
Now you want to take off the retaining screws, and for most vehicles there are only four. These vary in size from make and model so on, so there will be no size verification in this article. Now you need to take the blower motor cooling tube off of the motor itself and set it aside for later reinstallation. You need to grab a hold of the motor now and turn it a little to the right so the bottom of the mounting plate matches the wheel well splash panel's shape. Now pick it straight up and pull it out of the blower motor housing area.
Now to reinstall a new one, you will do these steps in reverse. First, place the new motor inside the blower motor housing area. Now you need to rotate the motor and the assembly to the right side so the mounting plate and the wheel well splash guard match shapes again. Now you need to replace the four retaining screws into the correct positions and then push the cooling tube back into the right receptacle.
Reconnect the blower motor lead connector to the wiring harness connector and then place the battery cable back onto the post. To see if this works for you, turn your vehicle over and turn on your heat or air. If you have air coming from your vents, then you were successful. If you don't have air in your vents, you will need to take the battery cable back off and complete the entire process again. When finished, if you still have no air flow, you may want to take the blower motor to an auto parts store and have them run a check on it to see if you bought a bad part. This sometimes happens, and there is no way of you knowing this when you purchase it. Don't be upset, this even happens in professional shops, so it is not just you. Congratulations, you just fixed your blower motor!
