If you are looking for the ultimate in hotel experience with a little air miles aspect attached, then taking to the airlines hotel will be just right for you. The experience is for the adventurous at heart. The latest in hotel innovation has seen the likes of an old relic Boeing 747-200 built in 1976 transformed into the hotel of the 21st century. Once owned by Swedish company called Transjet, the newly transformed hotel was used to fly Muslim pilgrims to Mecca.

The plane was suspended from commercial or private flight use due to its horrendous and dismal state after several years in service in 2002. Not long after it grounding was this weary aircraft purchase and renovated into low budget hotel rooms open to the public. The man behind the ultimate in hotel experiences is Oscar Diös. From the moment he discovered the airplane in its very bad condition and state he had the brainstorm of converting it into what he knows best.

Diös who already runs a successful yet modest hostel called Uppsala Vandrarhem och Hotell, in Uppsala saw the potential to expand his business prospects while at the same time utilizing an old and worn plane that was headed for the scrap heap. Looking to attract as many paying customers as possible Diös aimed to keep the costs of the rooms within affordable reach for all. His vision took 2 years to realize and is named the Jumbo Hostel.
