Diös who already runs a successful yet modest hostel called Uppsala Vandrarhem och Hotell, in Uppsala saw the potential to expand his business prospects while at the same time utilizing an old and worn plane that was headed for the scrap heap. Looking to attract as many paying customers as possible Diös aimed to keep the costs of the rooms within affordable reach for all. His vision took 2 years to realize and is named the Jumbo Hostel.

The Costa Rican Airplane Hotel provides a high end luxurious stay within the transformed 1965 Boeing 727 airplane.
