Owned and operated by the City of Boulder, the Boulder Municipal airport has served the Boulder community since 1928. It offers support services for civilian, business, law enforcement, and fire / rescue operations. It provides a base for glider-soaring clubs, flight training schools, aircraft maintenance, charter aircraft, and aircraft sales, No commercial airlines operate out of Boulder Municipal Airport. The airport is open for day and night operations and the terminal building can be accessed by the general public during the day.
Airport Day Schedule of Activities:
6:30 a.m. - Hot air balloon joint lift-off
9 a.m. - Aircraft exhibit opens. Displayed aircraft will include a:
- World War II Beechcraft C-45 cargo plane
- Army Blackhawk helicopter
- TBM "Avenger" WWII Torpedo Bomber
- World War II T-28 Trojan trainer
- Beech Staggerwing bi-plane
- Fairchild antique open-cockpit plane
- Gliders
- Medevac helicopters
- Experimental airplanes
9 a.m. - Vietnam Airlift Presentation -a personal recount by pilot & veteran Robert Resling USAF - Retired
9 a.m. - Noon Free airplane rides for children ages 8 to 17 (first come, first-served basis)
11:30 a.m. - Flyover by a MiG-17 jet fighter
Noon - Parachuting demonstration
12:30 - "Aircraft Safety and Human Factors," presentation by Jamie Martin from US Aero
3 p.m. - Aircraft exhibition area closes to the public
Note: Schedule is tentative and subject to change.
There will be a variety of other exhibits and activities.
- Discounted helicopter rides will be available on-site.
- Fly a computer flight simulator (Sponsored by Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum)
- KidSpace activity area where kids can learn how to build model rockets, balsa wood airplanes, candy airplanes and paper helicopters.
- Civil Air Patrol search and rescue plane display.
- Sport aircraft displays and training information.
- Boulder Fire Department display.
- Boulder Emergency Squad display.
- Food and refreshment vendors will have items available for purchase.
Parking, admission, displays, and presentations are free.
