Airport Security in Nigeria Apparently Compromised at "Gate 2"

Detroit Terrorist Boarded There

Gary Davis
I don't know that I was ready for this information on airport security but I can't say that I am amazed. Using "This Day, African Views on Global News," as my reference it seems that airport security is massively compromised at one gate in Nigeria. In fact the airport security is lax at Gate 2.

Chinedu Eze has posted an article titled "Poor Security System Exposes Abuju Airport." In the article we find that the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has not been in charge of Gate 2 of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. Therefore the airport may be more at risk.

Who has control of Gate 2?

It seems that the security has been taken over by the Nigeria Air Force.

It seems that people are getting on aircraft with improper screening and can bring on anything that they want.

Gate 2 is the gate that Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab boarded the flight to Detroit in the United States.

When it comes to acknowledging the situation of course as usual, the general manager of the airport said he knew nothing about it.

This is the situation that we in the United States must understand. We just assume that safety measures at the beginning of an out-of country flight are the same as in our country. They are not. Obviously the conditions may even be controlled by our enemies.

In writing about countries that have struggles with stability I often bring up my time in Vietnam. I do this because I have first-hand knowledge having been there and also because the country was so volatile.

We had airports so to speak but we also had airstrips where only military planes landed.

There is a reason that airlines and airports are targets.

There is terror. A number of people are killed at once. There is fear of going to any location. There is damage.

However the main reason airports are targeted is because it causes confusion. Most any form of mass transit or finance causes confusion and that is the motive.

In another article I just wrote, we have to use every tool at our disposal to protect ourselves knowing that what is happening in Nigeria at Gate 2 could happen anywhere.

We cannot control all options.
