AirScooter: The Flying Car

Concept cars always grab our attention with their flash and dazzle, but what about the ultimate concept car, the flying car. Jetson fans and dreamers alike eagerly await the day they will be able to start up their very own flying machine and take off, flying where ever they please, but, did you know that day may be closer than you think?

This is a new age of technology, you just have to check out a teenagers wish list to find that out!

One of the first flying machines built for personal use were actually built back in 1956, known as Molt Taylor's Aerocar, with the wings being detachable for more easy hauling (not to mention convince, imagine finding a house with a garage for that). However, the price and difficulty of use kept this invention from becoming a wide spread phenomenon.

Inventors are coming forwards again, now with more modern concepts for an old dream.

If you have $50,000 (or more, depending on which inventor's model you're looking at) sitting around with no where to go, you may be able to buy an AirScooter, created by inventor Woody Norris. The AirScooter can fly for two hours, and over fifty miles per hour!

Can you imagine it, the freedom, the unique experience, and quite possibly, the traffic of common air travel?

We all know how everyone on the ground drives, and that is with rules and regulations set in place! Imagine a slew of people in personal flying machines, taking to the sky, with the possibility of no need for a pilots license! Wrecks would be a far bigger potential problem.

Luckily for all of us though, NASA is on top of it! They have put together a sort traffic control computer system for the sky. A system that will actually be put into the vehicles themselves.

They actually compare the system to a sort of video game, if you keep your vehicle with in the lines, you'll avoid things you could crash into. This screen will also come in handy when it's dark out, or even in a storm. It's technology would actually allow the drivers to 'see' during these conditions with it's special screen (cbsnews)!

There was an increasing need for this technology to come forth, because wither we, as the public in general, realize it, there are flying cars in existence, with more inventors coming forwards all the time. Each with their own take on this almost obsession we have to be able to fly!

There is no doubt that there are kinks to be worked out, and you will probably not be buying a flying car instead of a mini van next year, but the possibility is large and exciting!
