A.J. Burnett, Gil Meche and Tim Wakefield

Fantasy Baseball Pitchers in the American League to Pick Up

B J Abel
With almost half of the Fantasy Baseball season over the starting pitching pool at a constant churn. One bad start and an elite pitcher could be tossed to the wayside and its your opportunity to grab this low hanging fruit that should pay huge dividends. Many players are second half stars or have simply faced tough opponents to date. Here are the top three American league pitchers that might be available in your league.

A.J. Burnett - A.J. Burnett had a rough start for fantasy baseball owners but that had a lot to do with the strength of schedule he has dealt with. AJ has put together an awful start for his price tag and can only be under valued for his talent. Someone may have dropped A.J. in you fantasy league for his close to 4.00 ERA and his mediocre 5-3 record. He is still the all-star pitcher we know and now is the time to buy or pick up this player in you fantasy baseball league. Playing for the dynamic Yankees helps always placing him in contention for a win even with a bad start.

Gil Meche - Gil Meche had a terrible start for a terrible Royals team who has had only one bright spot for fantasy owners was the explosion of Zack Grienke. Gil has not given up more than 2 earned runs in his last 6 starts and is in line to take his job as the Kansas City ace and viable KC Fantasy baseball starter if he keeps this up. He should be able to be picked up cheap for at least a few more weeks.

Tim Wakefield - Tim Wakefield has always been a bur in the sides of Fantasy Baseball owners. His up and down starts make him a risk any time he goes out. The last true knuckleballer makes him fun to watch but hard for fantasy owners to own. He has flashed a few good games in a row and since he is on Boston he is always in contention for a win. If your era can take the shaky era he should be a solid 4th or 5th starter on your team and you can't buy anyone cheaper.
