Didn't do as well as I did last week in my predictions 2010 Associated Content NFL Pick'Em- Sports Writers NFL Predictions Contest . I was 11-3 for week 6 (tied for first with Ryan Christopher DeVault) but going into today's NFC East divisional showdown between the New York Giants and The Dallas Cowboys, I went 8-5. I somehow still managed to be in a three way tie for first with Ben Woods & Todd Jacobs. The three of us have all predicted the New York Giants will win, if Dallas wins tonight it will become a four-way tie with Joshua Huffman.
Recap
I truly thought New Orleans would find a way to win against Cleveland, I mean they got whupped, when the Browns came marching in. I didn't see that coming. But hey when you are the reigning champs everyone is bring their A game to you. It doesn't help when Drew Brees tosses two interceptions that are returned for touchdowns. They need to get it together, it's a new season.
Even after 3 throwing three interceptions, like many others I just knew Brett Farve was going to pull off one of his amazing final drive performances, which he almost did. I give him a lot of credit for falling down on the play, getting up and still almost completing a game winning pass. I can only imagine how that must feel to have almost pulled off the impossible once again. It would have been one of the most watched high highlights of the season so far. I won't be the first or the last to say it but it really may be time for Brett to hang up his cleats.
Kansas City Chiefs, hey what can I say, they kicked some serious behind, there aint no other way to put it. I read several times their offense is questionable but their 42 point they put up against Jacksonville say other wise.
I predicted the Steelers would win, but not the way they would win evidently. Miami fans are still pissed over what's being called a controversial call which gave the Steelers the ball in six inch line. Field goal! That's all folks.
Even after being listed questionable and participating in limited practice on Friday, I really thought Mike Vick would be back and predicted The Eagles would they would win over The Titans. If Kolb had managed to get another win in Vicks absence, he might have made a good case why he should have remained the starter. But Kolb couldn't hold it down and if Vick comes back next week, the starting position should be his to keep or lose on his own merit.
I predicted Baltimore would win but they gave me a scare. Buffalo played what might have been their best game of the year. Coming back and tying the game to send it into overtime, only to come up short once again. I mean Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for 374 yards. I have to double check but I do believe that maybe more then the first 5 games combined
I predicted the 49'ers would win now that they got their taste of victory but couldn't pull off their second win of the season again the Carolina Panthers.
Game Of The Week (goin into MNF)
The vote for game of the week for me was the Cincinnati Bengals vs The Atlanta Falcons. After last weeks lost to Philadelphia, The Falcons came out with something to prove as I predicted, jumping out to a commanding 24-3 halftime lead. At that point it appeared to be a blow out. I was saying to friends Carson Palmer had some weapons in Terrell Owens and Chad OchoCinco, if they want to win he is going to have to use them.
Then kaboom not only did Cinci come out of the locker room to play (as if they had heard me dissing them). Now only did the show signs of a comeback but managed to take the lead with a 22-0 point performance in the third quarter. The Falcons focused on Owens and Ochocinco, they forgot about Shipley.
The comeback of the now charged up Cincinnati Bengals was almost interrupted by by Eric Weems with a 55-yard kickoff return had the crowd of 67,667 that got the Atlanta fans back into the game. But Adam 'Pacman' Jones had other plans and he stripped White and returned the fumble 59 yards for the go-ahead score.
Look like the Dirty Birds were going to let another big lead slip away but they held their own when they managed to shake off the terrible third quarter performance and showed they could stay composed and regain command of the lead and hit 'em with the knock out blow in the fourth quarter! Even without cornerback Dunta Robinson after he suffered a concussion on a vicious hit delivered to DeSean Jackson. I had no idea this game would be as great as it was and it gets my vote for game of the week - going into MNF
