The AKC called on its nearly 5,000 affiliated dog clubs and other pet organizations to participate in this worthy cause. The event promotes public education, so people understand how take care of their pets.
Organizations can sign up until August 1, 2010 on the AKC website. All events will be listed on the AKC website. This is ian opportunity for pet lovers to share their knowledge about caring for pets.
AKC RDO Days events have been increasing is size and creativity each year, according to a statement by AKC spokesperson Lisa Peterson in a press release. Peterson added, "We encourage all dog clubs and organizations to host an event - you'll become an active part of your community, raise your organization's profile among local leaders and legislators and just plain have fun!"
Since the AKC RDO events are hosted by a variety of organizations, each event will have a unique local flavor. The events may include information about health, training, therapy doge, canine good citizenship, micro chipping clinic, rescue information, safety for kids around dogs and more.
The events should help to education pet owners and perspective pet owners about the bond between humans and their pets . Caring for your pet responsibly should help to protect that bond, keeping your pet safe, healthy and happy.
People, especially people who have not had pets, need help with the basics of pet ownership. Theses community events have the potential to make pet ownership more satisfying and enjoyable for the human and the pet.
The AKC website has a pet promise that can be signed that lists the many elements of responsible pet ownership. The promise is a commitment to car for your pet' heath and welfare, understand that they are dependent on you, provide fresh water and quality food, socialite your dog with other people and dogs, take pride in their appearance and groom them, provide basic training, take them to the vet regularity and keep vaccinations current, pick up dog waste, be a good neighbor, ensure that the pet gets exercise and make sure that the pet has some form of identification.
