Up to now Id never considered paying over twenty dollars for a pair of headphones, let alone 60, but I was tired of burning through cheap headsets that didn't sound that good or last more than a few months. The K27i's make all the difference. Put on some good soft acoustic music, and it sounds so clear yet full. You can hear each instrument, each string and I'm not exaggerating on that. Change to some harder rock, and it deals with the distortion perfectly. Plug in a standard set of Sony headphones, and the music sounds drab and lifeless. They are so adaptable; they just make everything sound incredible. They put my car system, home theater and my stereo to shame. Their that good and once you put these on, you will NEVER want to go back.
Starting off like most headphones, they needed a break in period of a few days. It wasn't painful, but I wouldn't call it pleasant either. You'll spend some time adjusting and bending the headband, but once you get it sorted out, it sets in place and is so light you hardly notice them. The ear padding is supple and doesn't pinch or slide around. Your ears get plenty of air, and although they do sit on your ears (not around) they seal amazingly well, and you get a super light pair of headphones in return.
AKG could have improved the looks, but I've seen much uglier sets. Black would be a nice option to match my Nano, but with such great comfort and acoustics I really cant complain. They look a little bulky on your head, but don't feel that way. You're your done they fold up and slide into a very nice included pouch that's about the size of a sunglass case. The cable is light weight, and includes an inline volume control. It comes in very useful if you want to cut the volume down real quick if you need to hear someone, but my one complaint is it wont cut the sound off all the way, which doesn't make much sense to me.
My k26i has gone just about everywhere, the beach, car trips, biking, and it has held up extraordinarily. By now Id be through two sets of Sony headphones, so it's almost paid for. The ear pads are showing no sign of wear (even with several months of repeated use) and the case and headband still look like new. All the joints feel tight like new and everything works perfectly. The plug is a 1/8 inch that fits almost all CD players and mp3 players, and still clicks in firm and securely.
The combination of portability, quality and near perfect audio reproduction makes these headphones the perfect choice. No other headphones will give you this quality in this size. AKG manages to balance the two without sacrificing from either, and that's why I recommend them so highly.

Post a CommentI had Triports and just adored the sound, but... they kept breaking. It was always the plastic material at the telescoping point. The local agent replaced for free but it also broke, from the same pont, in the end managed to get my money back though I missed the sound. Now have enjoyed the AKGs for years without any trouble at all.
You hear the deep lows of your music, the warm mid tones and shimmering highs. Whatever your musical tastes, Bose on ear headphones faithfully reproduce the subtle nuances and powerful choruses.
