Although this health foods store seems to have a large turn-over with managers, it appears to have a large volume of business. If your product isn't available, it usually is in a day or so. The store allows customers to
special order and employees will call the larger Akin's Natural Food Store located at 63rd and May to see if they have your product.

Akin's Natural Food Market is corporate managed with corporate ordering for all stores. Employees have mentioned it makes it difficult at times because they can't always get the products they know their customers desire. However, this particular Oklahoma City business does carry a large variety of products including organic produce.

An advantage to Akin's corporate management is all ingredients of products are reviewed by a board. What this means is that any product that changes its ingredients or doesn't meet a certain standard are not carried by Akin's. This is a great safety feature. Akin's has pulled product from their shelves when it is found to be inferior to their standards.

Akin's provides training and certification for their employees. The certification for National Product Specialist is a year long training program which follows guidelines from Bastyr University, renown for Natural Medicine education.

There are plenty of snacks, gourmet organic produce and fair trade chocolate and coffee. They are open long hours and most holidays. Their location makes it easy to drop by and employees wear green aprons so you know who works at Akin's Natural Food store.
