Akron-Canton Airport Named a World-Class Provider
SmartBusiness Network and Metro Lexus Give Akron-Canton Airport Five Stars
The federal government's restrictions on flying have passengers, and employees, facing high stress levels. Akron-Canton Airport strives to make the experience better. Fred Krum, the airport's Director, has made customer service a priority. In addition, he welcomes input from Akron-Canton Airport employees. Not only are opinions welcome, but they are acted upon, too.
Under Krum's direction, the Akron-Canton Airport has quadrupled passenger traffic. He has worked hard to develop a solid relationship with the six airlines currently serving the facility. Kristie VanAuken, the Director of Marketing & Communications for the Akron-Canton Airport, says that they are working hard to lure new airlines, as well as to increase routes and services.
One reason that the Akron-Canton Airport is growing in popularity is that it offers passengers a less stressful travel experience. From easy to locate gates to its Relaxation Station, the Akron-Canton Airport has taken great measures to ensure that travelers will enjoy their flights. The airport's slogan, "a better way to go ®," is certainly proving true.
In December of 2006, Akron-Canton Airport completed renovations in the terminal. The enhancements added were a plasma TV, leather seating, a Step2® Play Port for children, and breast-feeding stations for nursing mothers. Also added were an upgraded seating area near the food court and massage chairs. Another bonus for travelers is complimentary Wi-Fi access throughout the terminal.
Adding to the personal touch of the airport is the "CAK Blog Port." The pages are written by the administration of the Akron-Canton Airport. Each page offers readers a chance to post a comment, something rare in the airline administration realm. It is not surprising, though. Fred Krum has made it his business to ensure that customers have a say in their travel.
Management is the key to the success of the Akron-Canton Airport. The leadership has done a phenomenal job to keep the facility debt-free. Because of Akron-Canton Airport, hundreds of millions of dollars have been pumped into the area's economy.
The Akron-Canton Airport originally set its sights to offer an alternative to Cleveland Hopkins Airport in Northeast Ohio. In recent years, travelers from Pennsylvania, and other areas, have made it their airport of choice. According to its website, the Akron-Canton Airport served 1.4 million passengers in 2005, an increase of one million-passengers from 1995. Currently, Airtran Airways, Comair, Frontier Airlines, Northwest Airlink, United Express, and US Airways operate out of the Akron-Canton Airport.
