Al Gore, Cameron Diaz, Current TV Announce Climate Crisis Contest

Regina Sass
Current TV has announced that Al Gore & Cameron Diaz have issued a challenge to young people in the US, UK and Ireland. They announced it during the Live Earth Concerts on July 6th and the challenge is to the young people to participate in the ":60 Seconds to Save the Earth" by submitting a video, 15-, 30- or 60-seconds in length showcasing what changes they want to see in combating the climate crisis.

Those who enter will have their videos judged by a very elite group of judges, from the entertainment and advertising fields, namely Cameron Diaz, joined by Orlando Bloom, George Clooney, director Sam Mendes, Alex Bogusky of leading ad agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky, legendary advertising director Joe Pytka and Cathy Zoi, the founding CEO of the Alliance.

And those who do the best will be amply rewarded, so there is more of an incentive than wanting to get your voice heard on a very important subject. The grand prize winner will receive a Toyota hybrid car while three finalists will win Sony electronic products, from a Bravia HD TV to a Vaio, and sixteen semi-finalists will receive T-Mobile Sidekicks. The contest starts now and runs to September 12, 2007, so you have plenty of time to plan what you want to say and get it done the way you want too.

Interested? Those who want to participate, should visit the site. Here you will find the rules and instructions and it is the site where you will submit your video. If you need some video footage, you can download some from ITN Source for free. They are making it is easy as possible for as many young people to participate, so if the climate crisis is a concern of yours, then go for it. You have nothing to loose and everything to gain and you will make a viable contribution to helping solve the climate crisis.

The contest is co sponsored by Current TV Founded by Al Gore in August 2005, Current TV is seen in both the US and UK on cable and satellite TV Channels. It is on 24/7 and much of the content is generated by the viewers. Check out the web site to find out how to view it in your area.

The other sponsor is the Alliance for Climate Protection, which was founded by Al Gore in 2006 Their stated mission is to convince people world wide about the urgency and solvability of the climate crisis

Nice: Global Warming, Y2k for those who missed it, a fairy tale "crisis" that creates it's own self sustaining industry. People are literally making a TON of money on peoples' irrational belief that the world is warming based on human activity, this show is a classic example. The best part is that they are giving away a CAR as the top prize. Hybrid or not, it spews out CO2 regardless... fortunately in the real world, none of it matters, but holy hypocracy Batman

I think Gore is to be respected, at least he is doing something to bring our attention to a serious problem.

Al Gore along with a pacel of so called climate experts invented this so called crisis. The so called climate experts sold their scientific souls for a few pieces of silver, a moment in the spot light, and most important of all MONEY to conduct more studies. Al Gore, after taking a break from inventing the intenet, fabricated a means of propelling himself into the spot light in an attempt to feed his ego. Global climate change occurred before Al Gore and will occur after Al Gore.

I recommend human sacrifice to appease their Heat God. It worked for the Mayans.

Efforts to improve the environment should always be supported. The prize is worth entering the contest for video creators. Regular cars may look better, but hybrid cars are beneficial for the environment. Good article.

    Great reporting Regina.
It's about time we focus on giving back to our planet instead of "Raping" and blowing it
up for financial gain. I guess he Al Gore lost the battle and now refuses to lose the war?!?!
