Al Gore Rumors--An Alleged Affair with Laurie David

Most Have Wondered Why Al and Tipper Gore Would Split After 40 Years Together

Pearl Grace
Ever since Al Gore and his wife, Tipper, announced their separation in June 2010 (Huffington Post), you have to admit you have been waiting for the other shoe to fall. After several discussions over dinner and with friends, most of us can come up with no conceivable reason that a couple would split after 40 years.

Lamenting to my own life partner/soul mate, I wished there was some sort of a timeline that, once surpassed, could assure couples their unions would never fall apart. Let's face it, 40 years? So many have cogitated, couldn't Al Gore and Tipper have worked something out? Of course, anyone living in the USA can separate/divorce whenever they want, yet that fact is not comforting in this instance.

Frankly, it's not as if the kids just vacated the house. Surely, one already knows and accepts and even accommodates one's partner's shortcomings by the time 40 years have been shared. All those preferences and quirks are no doubt committed indelibly to Al and Tipper Gore's memories after four decades.

Plus, Al Gore and Tipper apparently own more than one home. Technically, they could live their lives mostly separated and we wouldn't even have realized it. Not to mention Al Gore seems invested in his work, which appears to require considerable travel and thusly serves as an easy excuse to be apart.

Sad and Disappointing Theory about Al Gore and Tipper's Split

In essence, the only reason one can come up with that Al Gore and Tipper would announce to the world they are splitting is fear one of them would be "found out" as having an affair. Who wouldn't want to avoid that media bomb? This hopefully mistaken conclusion was arrived at with much sadness and disappointment by this writer.

Of course, as with many other celebrities far too numerous to mention here, it would be too ugly not to reveal a split before the inevitable media onslaught of seedy, alleged liaisons, if in fact an indiscretion occurred. Thus, Al Gore and Tipper may have cut their losses by announcing the separation to prepare for allegation(s) that might emerge in the media.

The Latest on the Al Gore and Tipper Divide

So, now, rumors are flying that Al Gore has been/is engaging in an extramarital relationship with Laurie David. Laurie David, the ex-wife of Larry David, who created popular television shows such as Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm, has vehemently denied what The Star has alleged about her and Al Gore (Boston Herald, 2010). Described as an environmentalist on the Boston Herald website, Laurie David is actively involved with the Natural Resources Defense Council. The Davids reportedly went their separate ways in 2007.

Information about the alleged affair between Al Gore and Laurie David is also reported by the Huffington Post and the National Enquirer. Claiming she's in a committed relationship with someone, Laurie David refers to Al Gore and Tipper as "family". Al Gore and Laurie David worked together on Gore's blockbusting, award-winning documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, with Ms. David serving as a producer for the film.

The bottom line is that as human beings, we silently (or maybe publicly) select people whom we look up to and respect. We want to work, achieve, and live the way those chosen icons do. We are in awe of such personalities. Al and Tipper Gore are two of those models for many. Let's all hope for the best for Al and Tipper Gore.

I believe that monogamy can be outdated and that happiness comes from living today to the best of our ability with those that love us to the fullest. If that changes, then our center of influences should change (IMO). Life is too short to be miserable.

    Excellent reporting.

This is very sad. It is also sad that the first thing I thought when I heard they were getting a divorce was, "Whose cheating?" I don't care what the statistics say almost every one I have ever known who got a divorce no matter what they claim one of them was always cheating. On rare occasions it is something else that causes the split but usually it is someone else. I find it very sad to see a 40 year marriage break up.

How sad, after 40 years, being alone will be a huge change for both of them.

Great write-up. Seems like celebrities and people like this would know that their personal business is going to get in the headlines, and would try to behave themselves.

in this culture--the dirt always comes--sad. good reporting, though!
