Al Gore's "Inconvenient Truth"

Former Vice President and Presidential candidate, Al Gore, has made a movie that is all the buzz in Hollywood and around the world. I hear it's been nominated for Academy Awards. Amazing... The movie purports to prove Gore's claim that "Global Warming" is man made and will kill us all. He has several scientists on his team, producing "evidence" and "facts" to back up his theory. This is the same Al Gore who led us down the garden path back in the seventies. Then it was "Global Cooling" that would wipe out life as we know it before the turn of the century. The next Ice Age was coming and humans caused it. Sound familiar? It's the same story he's telling today. But the scientists of today have a little better means of investigating such claims.

Claim One

One of the claims that is being debunked by real science is that carbon monoxide is the culprit. Testing of ice cores and sea cores show carbon monoxide levels have been much higher in the distant past. Long before there were cars, factories or people, Co2 was around in abundance. Reliable scientists are starting to notice the fact.

Claim Two

The polar ice caps are melting and stranding polar bears, eventually causing their extinction. Wrong again. The ice cap at the North Pole is shifting and melting a little. On the South Pole, it is growing. The famous picture of the polar bears "trapped" on a piece of ice is a fake. A lady took the picture after watching the bears swim to the chunk of ice. The guy who stole credit for it was drilling a hole in the ice at another time (armed with a shotgun, in case any of the endangered bears should get too close to him). He took her picture of the bears and used it with the pictures of himself to make it look like he was there when the picture was taken. Polar bears can swim a hundred miles, they don't get caught in ice floes without the ability to escape.

Claim Three

He tells us that Global Warming is causing mass extinctions all over the world. Does he ever mention the new species that are cropping up lately? A few months ago a single school of fish was found that contained millions of fish! The news just came out this week about a French scientist discovering 50 new species of sea life off New Guinea. More new species have been located in Africa and South America just in the last year. He has yet to name one species that has become extinct since his Global Warming scam began.

Claim Four

If we just stop using fossil fuels and nuclear energy, the world will survive. Another error. According to a study sponsored by the UN, even if we all went back to the Stone Age tomorrow, it wouldn't stop the warming or reduce carbon levels. The warming is cause by a combination of natural climate changes that have always happened and the sun. The sun produces incredible amounts of energy and sun spots send that energy and heat out into space, where Planet Earth is located. Lightening caused fires (and others) put vast amounts of smoke into the atmosphere. So do volcanoes. These are not human caused (for the most part) and cannot be human controlled. Especially the volcanoes...

Claim Five

Hole in the ozone... Over the years the hole in the ozone has been blamed for cooling and heating, but there is no proof that it has any effect. The hole fluctuates in size and location, changing very little that lies beneath it. There is not (nor can there be, even with our best technology) any way to determine when the hole first appeared. It might have been blown out by an asteroid millions of years ago. It might be necessary for some reason we don't understand. Nothing can be attributed to the famous hole, for good or ill.

Claim Six

If he were the President, he could solve the problem. He was Vice President for eight years and did nothing about it. In fact he didn't start the Global Warming rhetoric in earnest until he lost the 2000 election to George W. Bush. He has yet to explain how he would fix the Global Warming problem. The Kyoto Accords were so foolish, even Bill Clinton didn't sign on. New laws and higher taxes won't prevent volcanoes, or lightening, or sun spots. The planet is warming a little because it's natural for it to do so. Mankind didn't cause the Ice Ages, either.
