Al Pacino Movies that You Should Give Your Guy for Christmas

Eileen Juhl
If you want to get your Sweetie something he'll really love this Christmas you can't go wrong with the movies on this list. Here are my top 10 best recommendations for Al Pacino movies that guys will really like:

10. "Two for the Money" 2005, rated R, co-starring Rene Russo and Matthew McConaughey. This is a football betting movie that runs on pure adrenaline. It's Al and Matthew as Mentor and Apprentice in "making money 101". How much is enough and how long will it last? It's a wild ride to the Red Zone.

9. "Serpico", 1973, rated R, co-starring John Randolph and Tony Roberts. Al plays real life detective Frank Serpico of the NYPD trying to blow the whistle on corruption within the department. Will he succeed in his personal crusade to clean up the NYPD or be killed trying?

8. "Dog Day Afternoon", 1975, rated R, co-starring Charles Durning and John Cazale. Al plays another real life character, Sonny Wortzik, who robs a bank to finance a sex change operation for his gay partner. The robbery does not come off like planned and with hostages in tow they try to get a plane to make their getaway.

7. "Carlito's Way", 1993, rated R, co-starring Sean Penn and Penelope Ann Miller. Al plays Carlito Brigante an ex-con who wants to give up his Puerto Rican gangland ties. Can he make a clean break, marry his girlfriend and follow his dreams all the way to the Bahamas? A great performance by Sean Penn as Al's coke- head Lawyer. Look for Viggo Mortenson in one of his early roles.

6. "Righteous Kill", 2008, rated R, co-starring Robert DeNiro and 50 Cent. Al and Robert play veteran NYPD detectives trying to solve serial murders they believe someone on the force may be responsible for. It's a surprise ending!

5. "Heat", 1995, rated R, co-starring Robert DeNiro and Val Kilmer. The first on-screen pairing of Pacino and DeNiro . This movie has Al as the LAPD detective and Robert as the thief. It's a cat and mouse game all the way to the end. The movie's climax takes place at LAX, adjacent to the runways.

4. "Donnie Brasco", 1997, rated R, co-starring Johnny Depp and Anne Heche. Johnny plays real life FBI agent Joseph Pistone who infiltrates the mob through his relationship with Lefty Ruggiero. The two men become friends and as Agent Pistone uses Lefty for the FBI he finds his marriage crumbling at home. Will he be able to keep his cover, protect Lefty from the retaliation of the mob, and fight to keep his family?

3. "Godfather I", 1972, rated R, co-starring Marlon Brando, and James Caan. Do you want to cross the Corelone family and find a horse's head in your bed? I didn't think so. They'll make you an offer you can't refuse. They are such a bad family, they're good. Bravisimo!! The classics never get dull.

2. "Godfather II", 1974, rated R, co-starring Diane Keaton, Talia Shire and Robert DeNiro. This movie finds Michael Corelone the Don since his father's death. Can he hold the reigns of power as well as his father and can he keep his family safe from his enemies? The movie also re-traces Don Vito Corelone's boyhood journey to America from Sicily and shows his rise to power. Though both Al and Robert are in this movie but they do not have any scenes together.

If you would like to buy all three of the "Godfather" movies they are available in a boxed set. Godfather III is also an excellent movie. Although many fans believe it is the weakest of the trilogy, with such quality predecessors, the third may seem a bit less than perfect by comparison. Michael's still trying to make the family business legitimate, but not having much luck. He even goes to the Vatican and ends up cleansing his soul in the process. It co-stars Andy Garcia, and Sophia Coppola.

For my number one pick I am recommending :

1. "Scarface", 1983, rated R, co-starring Michelle Pfeiffer. An Al Pacino tour-de-force performance. He plays viciously tough Cuban refugee Tony Montana who lands in Miami penniless and transforms himself into the biggest drug Lord in South Florida with all the money, power and respect he thinks he deserves. The films' climax is a bloodbath. "Say hello to my little friend" is his favorite saying and he means it.

This "guy movie" fest is sure to be a "hit" with your Sweetie! Happy Holidays!
