Alan Grayson did have someone he wanted to apologize to, though. "I apologize to the dead and their families that we haven't voted sooner to end this holocaust in America."
The term "holocaust" is a very loaded word, not to be used in modern political discourse lightly. It brings to mind gas chambers, crematoria, and SS storm troopers shuffling Jews and others to their deaths. It is also an ironic term, coming from Alan Reynolds, who supports a health care bill that will lead to health care rationing, hence a lot of unnecessary death and suffering.
Godwin's Law states that the first person to raise the subject of the Nazis, Hitler, or the Holocaust in a political argument loses the argument. That is because invoking Nazi Germany is so over the top that it renders all further political discourse futile.
One is not quite sure what Alan Grayson is talking about when he yammers about "this holocaust." There is no epidemic of people dying in the streets because they lack health care insurance. No one is hustling the uninsured and the sick into gas chambers to that they might "die quickly" to coin a phrase now made infamous by Alan Grayson. Doctors and nurses in American are not the equivalent of the SS as Alan Grayson seems to be implying.
There was one incident involving a woman in Oregon that seemed ghoulishly like something that would have happened in the Third Reich. The woman, dying of cancer, was denied a life extending drug by Oregon's version of the government health care. However she was reminded that Oregon does have assisted suicide, which the state of Oregon was happy to pay for. "Die quickly," Oregon told the woman. The pharmaceutical company that manufactured the drug in question finally gave it to the woman pro bono.
The Republicans are, of course, demanding an apology from Alan Grayson. Since the GOP will not respond in kind, perhaps they should adopt a different tactic. They should encourage Alan Grayson. Let him rave on. Let him invoke the Third Reich, the Khmer Rouge, Genghis Khan, the French Revolution, global warming, the administration of Jimmy Carter, or whatever inappropriate historical analogy creeps into his fevered brain, pounding to get out. The more Alan Grayson raves, the more ridiculous his argument and the case for Obama style health care reform becomes.

Post a CommentI like Rebecca Shera have been left scratching my head about the obvious plans the Democratic party have for America. The dems lust for power have totally blinded their reasoning power. They think they can destroy big business and tax the middle class to support all of their social give away programs in order to control the voters who continue to elect them to office. These give away programs do help them to get elected but they are not economically sound. When you give something away that actually cost money someone has to pay for it, that being the tax payer. When you force businesses to close their doors you cut off the tax base and the democrats then have to print phony money to continue to pay for the programs. It has reached a point now, there are not enough tax payers left to foot the bills and the Democrat idiots in Washington have not even figured this out. Depenedency on government never solves any proglems and when the dems figure this out, or all of the old time die
The likes of these idiots in Washington should remind the citizens of the United States they are entitled to make one mistake but not a repeat in 2010 and 2012. Bye Bye Obama and clan.

This is the typical Democrat and main stream news media response to a comment made by someone who has totally lost his connection with the real world problems here in the United States. Socialized medicine and health care has never worked in any country and has been proven to reduce services everywhere it has been implemented. The democrats know they can use the main stream media vast source of coverage to turn the truth around and make it look like the Republicans are the ones who will cost needless deaths with their idea of healthcare reform. Lets face it America, the democrats have shown an abundance of stupidity with every program they have enacted since the dems took over congress three years ago. And since the Obama mistake for President the U.S. economy has went straight down hill. Let see if ABC,NBC, CBS, and the like can blame this mess on anyone except Barrack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Chris Dodd, and Barney Frank. The likes of these idiots in Washington should r
Yeah, pretty dispicable. But, I am scratching my head a little...seems like he pointed to the wrong party when claiming Repubs want the sick to die quickly!
