Alan Jackson - Australian Tour - March 2011
US Country Music Legend Alan Jackson's First Australian Tour
Chugg Entertainment and Rob Potts Entertainment Edge have announced that Alan Jackson is coming to Australia. Fans are ecstatic and the tour is sure to be a big success. Hot on the heels of Tim McGraw, Jackson's tour kicks off on 4 March 2011 at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena. After that, the US country music legend will go north to Sydney's Acer Arena for a 7 March concert and on to Brisbane for two dates at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on 10 and 11 March. The American country music superstar has never been to Australia before and fans have waited two decades for this amazing performer to come "down-under".
Alan Jackson needs no introduction to his enormous number of die-hard fans in Oz. He is a 16-time CMA and 16 -time AMC award winner, and Grammy winner with sales of more than 50 million albums and 34 number 1 hit singles. Alan is one of the most successful and respected songwriter/performers in music, appealing to several generations with his modern approach to classic country. No doubt he will perform 'Drive', 'Chattahoochee' and 'Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning)' at his forthcoming Australian concerts.
Here's what Alan Jackson had to say about the forthcoming tour -
"I've always heard that it's just beautiful down there," says Jackson. "Everyone I know that's been has loved it. Said the people down there are really nice and welcome people from the US so generously. I know I've got a lot of fans down there and I know they like my kind of music - so I think it'll be a fun trip!"
Great support acts joining Jackson on tour
Jackson is bringing along special international guest Miranda Lambert, who made history this year when she received 9 CMA nominations, more than any other female artist in CMA history! This will also be Lambert's first trip to Australia. Another support act is Aussie country music singer Jasmine Rae. The ARIA-nominee has had one of the fastest rising careers of any local artist in recent years. Her debut album Look It Up produced three #1 singles and was described by the King of Australian Country Lee Kernaghan as "the hottest new artist to come out of Australia in a long time". Her second album, currently being recorded in Nashville, will be released on March 4 the day the tour commences.
The venues
Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena, venue for the Australian Open Tennis Tournament, can accommodate an audience of 15,000. It has the advantage of a retractable roof in the event of rain.
Acer Arena (formerly the Sydney Superdome at Olympic Park) is the largest indoor live entertainment and sporting arena in Australia. It was one of the major venues for the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Acer Arena hosted artistic gymnastics, trampoline, the basketball finals and wheelchair basketball. It is now acknowledged by experts as equal to the finest indoor arenas in the world. Its seating capacity is 21,000.
The Brisbane Entertainment Centre has a seating capacity of 13,500. It is possible that a third Brisbane concert will be added to the tour if demand dictates. This is because fans come from all over the state and from New Zealand to most of the big concerts in Brisbane.
Tickets go on sale on 8 October 2010 through Ticketek. Internet pre-sales have already commenced.
