Alan Wake Becomes Xbox 360 Exclusive

Alan Wake has been put on hold for the PC. So, as of right now, it is an exclusive title on the Xbox 360 video game system. The journey towards release has been tough for this highly-anticipated video game. Alan Wake was first introduced to the public in 2005, a year before the launch of the Xbox 360 in North America. Despite showing great promise from the debut, it would disappear from the public's eye soon afterwards.

As the months and eventually years went by, many speculate that Alan Wake may have been quietly cancelled. The game surprisingly resurfaced again in the summer of 2009 for the Xbox 360.

Alan Wake is about an author with the same name. When he had trouble coming up with his next story, his wife decided to drag him along into a mysterious town. Eventually, he will be living out his own thriller stories for some mysterious reasons. The gameplay in Alan Wake is equally as unique since it features light-based elements in which your enemies will need to be exposed to light before they can be defeated.

So, even after the long absence, Alan Wake is one of the most anticipated upcoming video games in the industry. Unfortunately, it looks like PC gamers may be missing out on the adventure for now.

Although originally announced as a PC and Xbox 360 game, Alan Wake is now exclusive to the Xbox 360. This, of course, angered many fans who were going to purchase the game on PC. To further add to the disappointment, the developer, Remedy Entertainment, has a background with developing PC games with the Max Payne series.

The basis of the cancellation of Alan Wake for the PC may have to do with economics. PC gaming has decline significantly over the years due to rampant piracy and the rising popularity of home consoles like the Xbox 360. As a result, PC games don't sell as well as they used to and lags being the home console counterparts. This is a shame considering that a vast majority of multiplatform games usually ends up looking the best on the PC.

Alan Wake is also being published by Microsoft Games Studios. Seeing the decline of the PC market, the publisher probably decided the fate of the PC version of Alan Wake for developer Remedy Entertainment.

Whatever the reasons is, Alan Wake is no longer heading to the PC. Although Remedy Entertainment could always port the Xbox 360 version down the road, the resulting sales may not be worth the investment of an already expensive video game.
