Alan Wake Manuscript Pages Guide: Locations for All 106

Tips for Finding Each Chapter of the Novel in This Shadowy, Dark Video Game

Lori May
The Alan Wake manuscript pages are an ingenious blend of storyline content and optional item collecting, with three achievements available on the Xbox 360. In order to collect all 106, players must complete the game on "nightmare" difficulty; several manuscript pages aren't accessible otherwise. The achievements are awarded at a 20-count with "Paging Mr. Wake," the 30th collected triggers "Picking Up After Yourself," and the final award is "Collector's Edition" at 50.

In order of discovery--at least in my experience--here is a guide to finding all 106 manuscript pages in Alan Wake:

Episode One

Manuscript Pages #1 and #2: Players automatically receive "The Title Page of the Manuscript" and "Wake Attacked by a Shadowy Murderer."

Manuscript Page #13: "Rose is a Fan" is the first Nightmare-Only page, and is located on a log just before you enter the lumber yard.

Manuscript Page #3: "Wake Fights a Taken with Light" is located in the lumber yard, on the ground near a large pallet of wood.

Manuscript Page #10: "Rose Daydreams about Wake" is just after you exit the lumber yard, to the left of the yellow crane and up the hill. Look inside the shed.

Manuscript Page #11: "Barry's Arrival" is just beyond the river. Keep to the right of the islands and cross the logs; slightly downstream is a white box with the manuscript page on top.

Manuscript Page #5: "Wake Attacked by Birds" is found inside a log building next to the generator in the second logging camp. It is found on a table.

Manuscript Page #4: "The Dark Presence Wakes Up" another Nightmare-Only page, it is found on the rocks near the river just after the second logging camp.

Manuscript Page #6: "Wake Finds Pages" is just conveniently located in the path as you proceed up the hill after the floodlight safe-point.

Manuscript Page #7: "TV in the Gas Station" is actually on the path leading up the hill to the third logging camp, fairly easy to spot. If you hit the floodlight you went too far.

Manuscript Page #8: "Wake Lies to the Sheriff" is at the third logging camp, on the ground at the entrance gate.

Manuscript Page #12: "Toby the Dog" is outside near the ladies room door behind Stucky's Gas Station, and is the third Nightmare-Only page.

Manuscript Page #9: "Stucky Taken" is at Stucky's Gas Station, located on the ground near the deer parade float.

Episode Two

Manuscript Pages #14 and #15: "The Sudden Stop" 1 and 2 are both located on Wake's desk inside his apartment.

Manuscript Page #18: "Alice Sees a Shadow" can be found in the police station, near the refrigerator on the carpet.

Manuscript Page #16: "The Dark Presence in the Diner" can be collected after you speak with Sarah, in the Bright Falls Sheriff Station. It is located in a jail cell on the bench.

Manuscript Page #17: "Wake at Lover's Peak" is on the ground in the grassy area behind the Sheriff's Station. Look near the old truck.

Manuscript Page #19: "Barry Doubts Wake's Sanity" is at Elderwood National Park, outside the cabin near Barry's yellow truck.

Manuscript Page #31: "Rose and Rusty" is also at Elderwood National Park, on the floor of the lookout point down the path from the two cabins.

Manuscript Page #20: "Rusty Dying" yet another at Elderwood, in the open trunk of a car parked on the side of the path.

Manuscript Page #21: "Rusty Attacked by the Dark Presence" is found near a low stone wall near the Park Ranger's Office steps in Elderwood.

Manuscript Page #22: "Wake Reaches a Safe Haven of Light" is obtained once you have the key at the Ranger's Office at Elderwood, on the ground.

Manuscript Page #23: "Rusty's Final Thoughts" is found on a picnic table near an Elderwood sight-seeing lookout. This is just after defeating Rusty at the visitor's center.

Manuscript Page #32: "Barry Meets Rose" is at a picnic area after the second bridge; walk to the right. The page is on located on the ground, still in Elderwood National Park.

Manuscript Page #24: "Wake Sees the Torch Symbol" is near the floodlight with the generator, on the ground at the Lovers' Peak sign post.

Manuscript Page #25: "Nightingale's Arrival" requires you to jump over the barricaded gate, and pick it up off a rock on your way to Lover's Peak.

Manuscript Page #26: "Alice's Fear of the Dark" is located on the rocky edge of the viewing platform just after you encounter the kidnapper, Mott.

Manuscript Page #33: "Sarah Thinks About Wake" is on a cliff overlooking the mill, after the bear traps, near a barrel. You find this page before you cross the log.

Manuscript Page #27: "Wake Hears a Chainsaw" is in a small shack by the generator, near the floodlight.

Manuscript Page #34: "Deputies at the Logging Site" is up on the second floor of the mill, on a bag outside on the balcony.

Manuscript Page #28: "Barry in Elderwood" is very soon after #34, after the elevator jumping puzzle, on a pile of bags.

Manuscript Page #35: "Wake feels the Dark Presence" is inside the storage barn after the mill. To find it you must jump over the crates and obstacles.

Manuscript Page #29: "Nightingale Fires at Wake" is at the entrance to the ladies restroom in the campgrounds; look for the red trash can.

Manuscript Page #36: "Wake's Despair" is behind the semi trucks full of logs, on the ground before the tunnel.

Manuscript Page #30: "Wake at the Dark Presence's Mercy" is found on the trail back to Rusty's cabin just after the phone call from Mott. It is the only Nightmare-Only page in Episode 2.

Episode

Manuscript Page #37: "Randolph Calls the Police" is available after you talk to Rose at her trailer, lying on the ground.
