Alarm Clocks for People Who Just Can't Seem to Wake Up

If you find that traditional alarm clocks allow you to keep right on sleeping, here are some alternatives that just might wake you up...

Talking Clocks ~
Instead of an impersonal buzzing or beeping, you can now buy an alarm clock that actually talks. You can program it in your own voice, the voice of someone else you know, or you can use the default voice. Either way, you can hear a personalized message telling you to wake up or reminding you of your appointments for the day. If you find the sound of voices wakes you up better than tones or buzzing, a talking alarm clock may be perfect for you.

Radio Alarm Clocks ~
Radio alarm clocks replace the buzzing or beeping noise with the broadcast of whatever local radio station you tune it into before you go to bed. You can adjust the volume to be woken up by very loud music if you believe that loud music will disturb you enough to wake you up. While waking to your favorite station maybe helpful for some people, others may find that the best course of action is to tune it to a station that they really don't like, and then put it across the room. In order to change the station or turn it off, you will have to get out of bed.

Vibration ~
It is now possible to purchase an alarm clock that is wired to a vibrating panel that goes underneath your pillow. Instead of beeping, the pad starts to vibrate, jarring you awake. If noises, even loud ones, don't wake you up, the vibration of something in your bed moving right under your head might be enough to wake you.

Uncomfortable Alarms ~
A friend of mine that was good with electronics found a way to wire the alarm clock to almost any other electronic device. Instead of a clock, it acted like timer setting off the other equipment. Using this procedure you can set up things to make your sleeping environment less comfortable. For instance, he once connected a cable to the bottom edge of his blanket and a wench. When the alarm went off the wench activated, yanking all the covers off of him and making him uncomfortable enough to wake up and do something about it.

If you or someone in your home that is very difficult to wake up with traditional alarm clocks, you may find that one of these alternatives will work out perfect for you. Sweet dreams...
