One of the best things about alarms for the elderly is that they stay with the individual. This means that the man or woman who needs help doesn't have to try to make it to the phone or even the neighbor's house. Instead, they have their own emergency services available to them right on their own person. What could be better than immediate, 24 hour protection? No matter what the elderly person is doing, they know that they are safe and protected. This type of emergency service device doesn't even have to be kept at home, but allows the individual the freedom to leave their home with the knowledge that they have immediate access to help where ever they are.
The next best thing to having alarms for the elderly would be to have medical staff or medical transportation at their home at all times. In fact, they would need medical staff to follow them on daily walks if they wanted to be as safe as they are with this device. Since that would be inconvenient as well as expensive, it just isn't feasible. Families can instead rest easy knowing that their loved ones have services available to them at all times, without the expense of an onsite medical staff. Elderly citizens get to enjoy their independence coupled with a sense of safety.
Alarms for the elderly are just one more demonstration of how technology can improve quality of life. After all, no one wants to lose their independence just because they are aging. These alarms take some of the stress out of the aging process.
