Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin Picked as Sen. John McCain's Running Mate

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has been chosen as Sen. John McCain's running mate. Sarah Palin would be the first woman to serve on a Republican presidential ticket. Palin isn't just Alaska's governor, she is also a mother of five who recently had her last child in April and the baby boy was born with Down Syndrome. The oldest of Palin's five children had enlisted in the army on September 11, 2007. Palin received a degree in journalism and communications in 1987, as reported by MSNBC.

The one question that is laying on a lot of minds is how the Alaska governor will help John McCain in this presidential election. McCain has no doubt had trouble with the younger audience and with the votes from women. Palin could help McCain since she is a lot younger than him but still older than Obama and she is by all means a woman.

There is no doubt in my mind that Palin is truly qualified for the position of vice president since she has a background in politics. Palin's history is being plastered all over the internet and we are learning more and more about her every second.

A lot of people who are backing up McCain have said in the past that he is more qualified for the job of being the president and with Palin's help they may just take over on a lot of the votes.

Obama has had a lot of help with his campaign since Hillary Clinton and a lot of celebrities like Oprah have been backing him up and many are thrilled to have a black American to make it this far in the presidential election. There have also been a lot of slaps that Obama has received such as many making jokes about his religion and the fact that many feel that he is either too young or doesn't have the qualifications to be president.

Like Obama, John McCain has also had a lot of problems in the media with jokes and those who say that he is too old to be the president. I haven't heard many say that he doesn't have the qualifications like I have heard them say about Obama and this leads me to believe that maybe he does have the qualifications.

I am a Democrat, but I don't know if I will be voting this year or not since I haven't made up my mind on whom I feel would make the greater change in the United States.

Wouldn't it be refreshing if, from this point forward, the campaigns would speak only on the issues? It would be equally refreshing if the media wouldn't pounce on opportunities for derision of personal character on any of the candidates; report the facts and let the citizenry form its own opinions.
