Alba Texas is a small East Texas town. The county has a mere 400 residents but the history behind Alba is amazing. Historically speaking, there are many hidden things in Alba, that outsiders would never know about unless they ask of course.

I found many hidden treasures in Alba, and have uploaded some of the many pictures with this article. Like the coal pits for instance. You won't find those on the public highways. They are tucked away in the woods, located off of County Road 117. I have never seen a coal pit before, so the trip, which was by four wheeler, was really quite a treat for me. I enjoyed the trip. Of course four wheeler riding is fun, provided you go very slow. I did take some very nice pictures.

On the trip, the old train underpass, which was dated 1930. A scare going down the hill though, since i did not realize we were "heading down hill" so quickly. Again, i did get good pictures. The underpass was just wide enough on both sides for a horse and buggy, or a small vehicle and trailer. Climbing back up that hill was not so bad; just don't try standing while going up the hill. It was fun, and an enjoyable experience.

The train underpass is located on No Man's Land. So called because, someone the land never did get purchased by anyone, and does not currently have an owner. The county records somehow missed it in the tax sales each month and year, therefore leaving the whole remainder of that area ... without an owner.

On to cat tail lake. Cattail Lake is called as such by the local residents because that is primarily what grows there. Very few people have actually seen cattail lake because of its location in the wooded area.

There were many trails out there, lots of coal pits, no man's land, and of course the train underpass, but there was also a calm and peace that you won't find in any city. It's not that far out of the town, but it sure has a peaceful quality that is not disturbed even by the four wheelers that do find it. A great place to find.

I got to take the trip on Mothers Day, which was a gift from relatives. I had been wanting to go out there ever since i heard about the underpass. Little did i know, that there is more to those woods than one thinks to tell of. The concrete slabs are still there, along with other treasures that are hidden away in the woods.
