Album Review of the Rocket Summer's Of Men and Angels

What is there that is not to like about The Rocket Summer? The Dallas native Bryce Avery has been making music from his parent's house since the age of 16. As the story goes his father bought him a guitar from a pawnshop and the rest is history. In an exclusive interview Bryce stated that he would often sit at school and daydream about chord configurations.

On Feburary 23rd his second major release from Island Records hit the stores to fans that are eagerly waiting. The first radio single Walls has already been picked up by the television show The Biggest Loser, and is described by Bryce as a ballad that "deals directly with people's depression." Not only that but he humbly admits that the emotional reaction that he has received from his fans is "God working through his music, and that he is fortunate to be apart of it." When an artist writes music that is revealing and identifiable there is no question as to why The Rocket Summer has such a strong connection with his fans.

Bryce described the album Of Men and Angels as a more organic album then his last. The title track from the album is probably one of the strongest and catchiest songs on the record. Bryce mentioned that he pulled the title Of Men and Angels from the bible verse in 1rst Corinthians 13:1 that says If I speak in the tongues of men and angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.

This album is a lot more open and honest and deals with issues that people can relate and identify with. Strong tracks off the album that will guarantee you humming the lyrics as you wake up include You Gotta Believe, Of Men and Angels, Walls, Light, Hills and Valleys.

The album contains 15 songs and is definitely worth picking up. You can catch Bryce and The Rocket Summer on the Vans Warped Tour this summer hitting a town near you.
