Every year KOAT, Albuquerque's Channel 7 News Team work hard on getting coats donated to children in Albuquerque who need a warm coat during this cold, winter season. The snow has already set foot in Albuquerque and meteorologists don't believe that was our last snowstorm, so take out those gently used coats that you no longer need and donate to Koats for Kids today.

Drop-off locations include the New Mexico Educator's Federal Credit Union branches, all Wal-Mart Superstores, KOAT Studios, Molina Healthcare and Jenny Craig Locations. Head over to the Koats for Kids website for more information on drop-off locations in Albuquerque and statewide in New Mexico.

Be sure to get those coats in before December 24th, though, to give children in need the opportunity to face the cold weather with a nice, winter coat. However, they do accept coats all winter long to stock up for the next winter season, so don't let the deadline stop you from donating a new or gently used coat. Just keep in mind the peak of cold weather tends to occur in late December/early January.

If you know of a child or have a child that is in need of a warm coat this winter, but can not afford one, then Koats for Kids is a program for you as well. There are several locations where you can go to pick up a coat for your child. I recommend calling the site you are interested in first to make sure they have a coat in the size of your child. Go to this website to find your location, including YDI and NM Human Services. Click Here

Although Koats for Kids is traditionally a program for children, the above website lists sites where adults can pick up a coat as well, or donate one if you wish.

Koats for Kids not only has their program in Albuquerque, but has branched out to several New Mexico locations. Check here to find out if your city has a Koats for Kids program: http://www.nmefcu.org/home/misc.lrgpromo_KOAT

Be warm this season and if you have any coats you're not going to use, consider donating them. Thank you.
