Alec Baldwin Calls Daughter "Rude Little Pig"

As I was getting dressed this morning, the Today Show was talking about Alec Baldwin. Like many, the promise of a juicy celebrity story draws me in. I have recently become a fan of Baldwin's NBC show, 30 Rock, and even though I've long disagreed with his politics, I never let that get in the way of my enjoyment of his films.

Until today when a scathing voicemail recording hit the media.

At first listen, the message sounds like Baldwin is talking to his ex-wife, actress Bassinger. But you quickly realize the target of the message wasn't the ex, but their 11-year-old daughter, Ireland. The message was released by celebrity news site, TMZ.com.

On the recording, Baldwin calls his daughter, a "thoughtless little pig" and says, "I don't give a d--- that you're 12 years old, or 11 years old, or that you're a child, or that your mother is a thoughtless pain in the a-- who doesn't care about what you do as far as I'm concerned. You have humiliated me for the last time with this phone."

The message continues with more profanity and Baldwin mentions he will be flying Los Angeles "for the day just to straighten you out on this issue."

The message may become a critical turning point in Baldwin's bitter custody battle with Bassinger. According to TMZ, a family law judge, Maren Nelson, has temporarily restrained Baldwin from contacting his child. A hearing on May 4 will determine a more permanent solution.

According to the Associated Press, Baldwin's spokesperson released a statement yesterday that said Baldwin, "will do what the mother is pathologically incapable of doing ... keeping his mouth shut and obeying the court order" and that Baldwin "acknowledges that he should have used different language in parenting his child, everyone who knows him privately knows what he has been put through for the past six years."

TMZ does continue to say, "A friend of Alec Baldwin's just contacted TMZ to say that the actor called Ireland last week and apologized for his outburst. The friend added that Ireland is the most important thing in the world to Alec and that he is frustrated because over the last six years, Kim has "tried everything" to alienate Ireland from him."

The couple married in 1993 and divorced in 2002 and there have been numerous legal disputes from the beginning, especially regarding matters of custody for the couple's daughter.
