Alex Lambert of "American Idol" season 9 has revealed his current situation on Twitter. The 20-year-old singer, last involved with the web series "If I Can Dream," revealed that he is homeless.

"You guys are all I really have"

Alex Lambert is the "American Idol" contestant who comes from North Richland Hills, Texas. He's so good that many of his fans got angry when he was voted off. Jessica Bongiorno was so angry she started a petition, which was signed immediately by thousands of people. "It's an understatement to say that I'm surprised. I had no idea it would ever be this big. I knew it would get momentum, but I don't know anyone else besides my mother who signed it. It's 3,000 to 4,000 people a day coming out of the woodwork," said Bongiorno.

Alex didn't get back to "American Idol," but he appeared on Simon Fuller's Internet reality show about stars living together in the Hollywood Hills, "If I Can Dream." But now, Alex says he is homeless, and that may come as a shock to his fans.

"Sleeping on the street and behind buildings"

Alex Lambert, in a series of tweets, writes:

"Alright, so I didn't want to bring my personal life to my fans, but I'm about to freak out if I don't tell all the truth! Ever since IICD ended, I've been kinda homeless! Sleeping on the street and behind buildings.I have a choice to stay and pursue my career or go back to Texas and not do music! I'm usually a strong person, but I can't take it anymore. I've been going to coffee shops and other stores so I can tweet to my snaf! Because to be honest! You guys are all I really have! I'm a poor boy y'all! Never had nothin' in my life. Please be grateful for everything you have. Because there's people out there with nothing! I just want my fans to know that I'm not an "American Idol" type person! There are many things I can't share with y'all because you'd probably think I was a hooligan, ha ha. There's no way I'll ever stop making music as long as I live. I didn't mean it like that! I just want y'all to know the truth!"

Lambert's current situation is a reminder. Just because you see a star on TV, and just because it looks like they're making it, or, at least, surviving, they may not be. Now that Alex Lambert has revealed his condition on Twitter, maybe it will draw attention to his situation and help him to improve his plight in life. Those who have heard Alex Lambert on "American Idol" know that he has a gift that needs to be nourished.

    I take my comment back.. I didn't read the entire article before I posted.. my bad! (still don't feel bad for him.. can't he get a job waiting tables and share a room with another starving artist like most of the rest of the wanna be actors/musicians do?)

    I really wish this guy would go back to Texas, never to be heard from again!

    He changed his tune already about it saying he has places to go and money but just don't want to burden anyone.

    @Sherri - Good point!

    Thanks for the news

    I've gotta go with Sherri on this one. There's a difference between being homeless and deliberately living on the streets. Still, it was interesting to learn about the less cushy landing of this former Idol contestant... they don't all wind up with fat contracts.

    I'd feel sorry for him except that he can come back to a nice home in Richland Hills,Tx and be just fine. There is plenty of music going on in Texas--maybe Alex has heard of Austin? If he chooses to be homeless to try and "make it", so be it, but make no mistake,he has a choice in the matter. Some of the best music I've heard has been right hear in Texas.
