Alexander McQueen Spring 2010 and "Bad Romance"

Lady Gaga was Dressed Head to Toe in Alexander McQueen's Fashions During Her Music Video

Alexander McQueen's Spring 2010 collection debut back in October 2009 was where Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" debuted. Alexander McQueen was an English fashion designer who dressed many high-profile celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Rihanna. Tragically, fashion lost this great icon as he passed away at the age of 40.

"Bad Romance" is one of Gaga's latest hits. The music video has been compared to Michael Jackson's "Thriller", with crazy alien-like creatures dancing out of pod-ish caskets. Gaga loved McQueen's style, and was even dressed head to toe in the "Bad Romance" video that can be seen here.

In the video, Gaga wore "Armadillo Shoes" which featured lobster claw heels. The style and design of the shoe is what kept McQueen's fashion clients coming back for more.

The designer's family has issued the following statement: "At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee's family."

Celebrity deaths are a curious thing. It seems as if they come in droves. Yesterday, word of Captain Phil Harris from the Discovery Channel's "Deadliest Catch" made its way through the grapevine. Many fans were devastated.

Today, the celebrity death is that of Alexander McQueen. He had a strong star-studded fan base, and many women loved his fashions (even if they couldn't afford them.)

McQueen's death came at a time where his latest collection was hailed as the "best ever." The Spring 2010 collection was a mix of alien and reptilian inspired items - which is why Gaga's "Bad Romance" was the perfect setting for its debut.

Throughout his career, Alexander was somewhat of a rebel. Although he worked for an ultra conservative label, Givenchy, he still had a bad-boy image. He had one collection that featured torn clothing titled "Highland Rape", which was 'inspired' by the look of rape victims. That didn't go over so well for obvious reasons, but his popularity still recovered.

McQueen was also the mastermind behind the "bumster" trousers, which showed the cleavage in the woman's buttocks area. The inspiration? Plumbers crack. Of course, the look didn't take off through the mainstream (for obvious reasons), but it showcases the risks that the designer was willing to take in the name of fashion.

Fashion just lost a great designer. He pushed the envelope, was open to trying new things, and had a different perspective that was unparallel to any other designer. The world of fashion won't be the same without his footprint.
