Alexia Sweet Potato Julienne Fries Review
These Fries Tasted Really Good but They Had Some Interesting Ingredients
I was thinking of getting possibly one of two frozen fries that I had got before. These two items were Alexia Oven Fries with Olive Oil, Rosemary and Garlic and Alexia Organic Yukon Gold Julienne Fries with Sea Salt. However when I went to the section where I would find them another item caught my eye and so I got it instead, this item was Alexia Sweet Potato Julienne Fries. I planned on getting something that was organic but seeing how I had not tried this sweet potato fries I couldn't resist, plus at the time a sweet potato french fry sounded really, really good. The bag was only two dollars and fifty-nine cents and contained about seventy-two fries, so I thought it was not too bad of a price.
The Alexia Sweet Potato Julienne Fries were not going to take that long to heat up and although they required the oven to be on at four hundred degrees I didn't mind because they only needed to be in the oven for eighteen to twenty minutes, about one-third of the time I was use to cooking my oven fries for. For this reason I didn't wait for a cool Summer day and instead made them one late evening as it began to cool down outside. The sweet potato fries were very, very good. They reminded me of Thanksgiving for obvious reasons, and inspired me to look into making some sweet potato fries myself someday. My two year old son absolutely loved them, I had to convince him not to fill up on them before eating the rest of his meal. I was very, very glad that I decided to get them.
I wondered if the Alexia Sweet Potato Julienne Fries had any usual ingredients in them and if they offered any good nutrition, as I know that sweet potatoes do. The ingredients of these fries are sweet potatoes, oleic canola oil and/or sunflower oil and/or safflower oil, modified food starch that is from potatoes, rice flour, corn dextrin, salt, leaving made of sodium acid pyrophosphate and sodium bicarbonate, extractive of paprika, xanthan gum and sodium acid pyrophosphate is added to preserve natural color. I was surprised at all that went into the making of these potatoes, I hoped that the nutrition facts would look a little bit better.
In twelve pieces of the Alexia Sweet Potato Julienne Fries there is one hundred and fifty calories with fifty calories from fat. These had more fat than Crinkle Cut Organic French Fries from Cascadian Farm, which I tried at the same time. They contained one hundred and forty milligrams of sodium for twelve pieces, likely because of the added salt, as well as two hundred and forty-five milligrams of potassium, twenty-four grams of carbohydrates, four grams of sugars, three grams of fiber and two grams of protein in a dozen pieces as well. The minerals and vitamins section of the nutrition facts for the fries looked great with vitamin A listed with one hundred percent, vitamin C listed with ten percent and both calcium and iron listed with four percent. The nutrition facts of the fries looked pretty good.
Considering the fact that the Alexia Sweet Potato Julienne Fries are not organic and have some interesting ingredients, I don't plan on getting them too often. I did think that they tasted really good and offered some good nutrition and for those two things I will be inclined to get them again. I would recommend for anyone to give these sweet potato fries a try.
