Ali Will Put Work Aside and Concentrate on Finding Love This Time

On a night full of announcements on ABC, the 2010 Bachelorette was announced Monday night during the Bachelor: After the Final Rose show. And to the delight of some fans- and despair of others-- the chosen one was none other than Ali Fedotowsky, the outspoken blonde from San Francisco who left Bachelor Jake Pavelka when she had to go back to work.

The announcement of the next season's Bachelorette was perhaps one of the worst kept secrets in the history of the show . When Ali Fedotowsky appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres show last month, she didn't help dispel the rumors that she would be the next Bachelorette, saying it would be "so nice" and she would be "flattered" if she were asked to be the next Bachelorette. She also told DeGeneres she would "think about it" if ABC asked her to star in the show. So- surprise! Ali must have talked to her bosses at Facebook (her rumored employer) and cleared the appropriate amount of time off this time, because it was officially announced that she would be the next Bachelorette. Ali may have lost Jake Pavelka in the process but she gained her own TV show, so good work! Filming will start this spring.

Fedotowsky was a fan favorite early on in this season of The Bachelor, but viewers saw a catty side of her when she continually clashed with contestant Vienna Girardi. She eventually left the show when she was called to go back to work after a misunderstanding regarding her leave of absence time off. By then fans had seen a nastier side of Fedotowksy, as she was frequently shown criticizing Girardi.

But ABC started planting a seed in viewers minds last week, when, during the Women Tell All episode of The Bachelor, a kinder, gentler Ali was shown. Fedotowsky even apologized for some of the things she said about Girardi during their time together on The Bachelor.

On Monday night Fedotowsky told Bachelorette host Chris Harrison that she is "really grateful" to be the next Bachelorette. She said she is looking for a guy who is "funny, smart" and "kind of quirky".

So will Bachelor Jake Pavelka come calling for Ali? While some fans speculate we haven't seen the last of a Jake-Ali romance, Pavelka is supposedly happily engaged to Girardi right now. Only time will tell...

The Bachelorette will air starting in May on ABC.

I totally agree with you regarding ABC's portrayal of Ali. I really disliked her negativity toward Vienna, so I absolutely won't be watching next season! (But I will be reading your recaps!!!)
