Alice

Movie Review

The footsteps of youth echoed down narrow corridors. A young girl flickered across the glass. Imagination was the white hare that slipped through her fingers, but still she gave chase. Danger bit at her heels, and dark memories struggled to pull her back. But she fell forward, ripping through the layers of this world and falling hard into a land beyond our own.

What if the stories we read once upon a time were true? Could a world beyond our own really exist, and what if we were trapped there, held prisoner to the pages of imagination? Would a journey unfold, one that we often dreamt of to escape the confines of our life, but are we ready for the challenge that waits? Or do we meet our end, fade to ink, and become a shell of what we once were? How could we reason with the one bent on having our head, and does home now lie beyond the looking glass?

A cold wind stirred through narrow alleyways. Hopes and dreams plummeted into the dark abyss, but despair washed away under the teardrops of clarity. The walls to our world closed in, suffocating us with failure, but strength was the pin that found its lock. And we fall down into cold waters, struggling to survive, but their eye now moves to where we stand, burning across our skin. And we are lost, dangling over the edge, and searching for someone to help us, but was trust lost on this mad, mad world? And would a price be placed on our head?

Her heart had led her here, and she was intent on finding him. But they were looking for her, and she found herself cornered in this labyrinth world. He took her by the hand, and she was pulled deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole. Was he leading her to help, or has he been playing her from the start? And if he could not be trusted, should she confront our enemies alone, hoping to reason with them, but once in their hands, would they let her go?

She thought she knew him. A once caring face now stared coldly at her, and his eyes no longer lit up at the sight of her. His voice was sharp, cutting her like a knife, and he grabbed her by the hands. But then he slipped away, away from her touch, but something dug into her palm. He had broken her heart, but he had also given her the answer to a puzzle that had held her for so long. But now in the hands of the enemy, how was she to find the man that had left her so long ago?

She did not want to escape. Her father was here, and she could find him. But still he rescued her like a white knight in shining armor but not the prince of her dreams, and he struggled to carry her to safety. But her enemies were fast and furious, tearing them down, and they fell into the dark waters below. And she had to go back. She had to find him, but he would not let her go. He begged to her to wait for him, but was time on her side? Was it too late to save him?

The journey was reaching its end, and still he remained out of reach. She tried to call to him, but was he listening? Or was she nothing more than a stranger to him? Were all the memories that had kept her heart beating now gone, and would she disappear along with it? But she wouldn't surrender.

Her strength fueled the fires that burned within. Strategy led her back to the beginning, and she slipped through their defense. Fear was the weapon held tight in her hands, breaking their control, and she reached for him. And he heard her call, and her enemies began to slip and fold. But bullets still aimed for her heart, and one struck home.

The past washed away in a river of her tears. Her father's life slipped from her hands, but the last moments shared were moments of a lifetime, and the man beside her pulled her away. And the fury in her heart shook the ground beneath them, and the chains of the present shattered, bringing down the house of cards. And the queen had reached her end, and a new legend was born, giving way to a brighter future.

But there was no place like home. A world beyond her own lingered across the glass, and this was to be the end of her journey. But would the one she entrusted her heart to come and find her, or would he remain behind? Time was drifting away, and someone in the distance was calling her name. And loss left her cold, but then love came and knocked on her door.

What truly lies beneath the mirror? Is it our darkest fears or our wildest imagination? Do shades of gray paint the stranger before us, conflicted and driven, and does the essence of youth remain lingering behind? And what if the glass gave way, hurling us into a world beyond our own? Would we seek escape, or would we dwell deeper into the rabbit hole? And would the Cheshire cat grin its slick grin, grooming the secrets that it keeps, and would we follow ALICE in the chase of the white hare? And her unforgotten journey carries us once more through the looking glass, bringing imagination to life in SyFy's spin on Alice in Wonderland.
