Alice Cooper Loves Lady Gaga: Five Cooper Songs Gaga Should Cover

Sherri Thornhill
Lady Gaga recently met one of her musical idols backstage at her concert in Phoenix, Arizona. Alice Cooper popped in to surprise the dancing queen on her 25th birthday on March 28. It was a birthday surprise that Lady Gaga will not soon forget. It's not everyday that a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer pays you a visit!

Alice Cooper confirmed that he is a fan of the outrageous female version of himself, which would make the shock-rocker a "little monster." Lady Gaga and Cooper spoke backstage about working together in the future. If that's the case, Gaga could brush up on her Alice Cooper songs by covering the five songs listed here as she continues to tour.

School's Out

This 1972 hit is a well known Cooper song. "School's out for summer, school's out forever" could be a new anthem for Lady Gaga's younger fans. Gaga and her "little monsters" would have a great time singing this classic together in concert.

I Never Cry

Cooper released this rare ballad in 1976. Gaga should hit the stage with just her piano and sing this song straight up. She plays the piano beautifully and has the voice to match. I Never Cry would make a wonderful duet for Cooper and Gaga if they were in the mood for mushiness. We already know that they both wear waterproof mascara, so make it a duet!

Freedom

This 1987 song from Alice Cooper represents both his desire and that of Lady Gaga. They want their freedom of expression and freedom from oppression when it comes to their music. Gaga can certainly relate to singing, "nobody better tell you how to live your life!"

Poison

Lady Gaga could have some fun making this hard rock tune into a dance hit in the pop world. Lyrics like, "I want to kiss you but your lips are venomous", are right up Gaga's alley. The god-father of shock rock knows that Lady Gaga can make any song memorable. He said this about her, "Nobody will remember 90% of the rock bands, but they'll remember Gaga."

Feed My Frankenstein

There is no need to wait for Halloween to sing this funky Alice Cooper song. Lady Gaga's fans will be happy to hear her pound this song out on piano. Gaga deserves to get her Frankenstein fed just as much as Alice Cooper did!

Great article and a fun read. I'm more familar with Alice Cooper than Lady Gaga, but from the little I do know about Gaga, she would be able to have some fun with Alice Cooper's songs and like you said, make them familar to a younger generation.
