Alice Cullen from Twilight Halloween Costume Guide

How to Create the Look of the Vampire Character

Teresa Wilson
Vampires are extremely popular right now especially those from the Twilight book series by Stephanie Meyer and now there's one Twilight movie with another coming out soon. With so many people liking all things vampire, dressing in a vampire costume for Halloween would be a fantasy come true. There are so many vampire characters to choose from that it might be difficult to narrow it down to just one but if you like the Twilight series, why not choose one of the vampires from the movie? The lead characters of Edward and Bella are the obvious choices and they're great but they are the characters that most people will choose to dress as. What if you choose one of the supporting characters such as Alice Cullen, played by Ashley Greene? In this article, I will give you the details needed to put together two different Halloween costumes based on the Twilight character, Alice Cullen.

Alice Cullen is a vampire who is the adoptive sister of Edward Cullen and has the gift of clairvoyance. She is short, only four feet ten inches tall and is married to Jasper Hale. They all live together in the Cullen household. In the Twilight book series, Alice Cullen has short black hair but in the movie, she has short dark red hair. For the purposes of your Alice Cullen Halloween costume, you can choose to go with either hair color. If you don't have short hair already and don't plan on cutting it off for a Halloween costume, you can purchase an Alice Cullen wig at Amazon.com for $39.95 here. Otherwise, you will need to spritz and fluff your own hair so it looks slightly tousled and spiky.

For the basic Alice Cullen look (before you decide which Alice Cullen clothing outfit to wear), the make up you will need is a pale color with light shadows under the eyes. I think a light natural color make up would work as long as it's not too white. Your lipstick should be a pale pink color, as close to natural as possible. Alice Cullen's eyes are a light golden color which darken when she's hungry. If you have the budget, you can buy golden contacts; otherwise I wouldn't worry about your eyes. You'll also need to grab a pair of white plastic vampire teeth to pop in when you're feeling hungry but no snacking on people please; Alice is a "vegetarian" vampire!

The jewelry you will need for your Alice Cullen costume is a felt choker with the Cullen family crest on it. You can make your own choker using a strip of gray felt cut in a width of approximately one and a half inches and in a length that will go around your neck and then cross in the front on your chest. Sew a dark charcoal or black color button in the middle of the felt where it crosses on your chest. If you prefer a more professional looking choker, Amazon.com sells one for $24.99 here. Your other jewelry options are a couple of silver-colored bracelets and rings on each wrist and hand.

There are several different Alice Cullen looks for you to choose from. You can Google Alice Cullen and Twilight and find numerous pictures to choose from for your Alice Twilight costume. I have chosen two pictures; one for a casual Alice look or one for a dressy Alice costume look.

For a casual Alice Cullen costume idea, you can dress in the vest and jeans look such as the one in this picture. The items you will need, in addition to the basic Alice Cullen look I've mentioned, are light gray-colored skinny jeans, a charcoal or dark navy vest with buttons, a short sleeved white blouse, a long sleeved white sweater that can remain unbuttoned, and slip on black ballet-style shoes.

To put together your Alice Cullen casual jeans look, you will need to layer the blouse, vest and sweater. First comes the white blouse with short sleeves, then add and button the vest over the white blouse, before adding the long sleeved white sweater. The white blouse can be somewhat dressy with a v-neck and lace edges but a plain white blouse will give you the same look for less money. If you already have a white blouse or even a white short-sleeved sweater, you will have the look you are going for with your Alice Cullen costume. The white long sleeved sweater should be long, passed your hips length, but you are going for the Alice Cullen look so a shorter sweater will still work. The gray vest can be either men's or women's but the style and look of the vest will be more authentic Alice Cullen if it is something similar to the vest at Amazon.com here.

For a more dressy Alice Cullen Halloween costume, you can see her in a vintage dress in these pictures. For a dress just like the one that Alice wore when Bella came to meet the Cullen family in the Twilight movie, you can buy the dress from BlueFly for $290.00 here. It is a Diane Von Furstenberg gray lace chiffon 'Oleada' ruffle dress. If that particular dress is out of your price range for a Halloween costume, you can go with a plain sleeveless gray dress such as the selections at Ann Taylor's LOFT for $69.50 and up here.

Along with the basic Alice Cullen look I've mentioned and in addition to the gray sleeveless dress you choose, you will need a small long-sleeved black sweater to go over your arms but leave the dress showing. You will also need black slip-on ballet-style shoes and black stretch leggings/Capri's that stop at about mid-calf to complete the look.

If you have plenty of time and you are on a strict budget, you may be able to find the perfect clothing pieces for your Alice Cullen Halloween costume at low prices in your local thrift stores or yard sales. Check your yellow pages business directory for the locations of your nearest thrift stores. And if you have plenty of time and you are good at sewing, you can sew your own Alice Cullen costume. Patterns can always be adapted to suit your needs if you don't find the exact pattern you want.

Once you're dressed in your Alice Cullen Halloween costume, you might want to mimic Alice's behavior by being cheerful and friendly. Plus you can add a nice touch of authenticity by using Alice Cullen quotes from the Twilight book series. If you don't have your own copies of the books, you can go online and find quotes listed by character at this website.

Do you have friends that like vampires too? Wouldn't it be fun if you went to your Halloween party as characters from the Twilight movie? If you dress as Alice Cullen it would be fun for your significant other to go as Jasper Hale, Alice's husband. Perhaps someone could even dress up as one of the evil bad-guy vampires from Twilight to add even more scary fun to this years' Halloween party.
