Alien Vs. Hunter (2007): A Movie Review

Jennifer Sapa
Alien Vs. Hunter is a sci-fi movie starring William Katt and Dedee Pheiffer. The basic plot is an alien hunter chases an alien creature to Earth where humans get caught in the middle of the hunt. Hmmm, sound familiar. Yep it is a totally rip-off of Alien Vs. Predator. I would give a warning that my review is going to contain plot spoilers but it really shouldn't matter because the movie is a total piece of crap. Please don't waste your time watching this movie

I rented the movie because I saw a preview before another rental and thought the movie actually looked interesting. If you watch the preview, you don't need to watch the movie because all the good parts are in the preview. But if you are actually interested in this movie, here is a brief summary. Two alien ships crash land on earth in a remote town consisting of about eight stupid humans. The humans run around trying to figure out whether they should hide, run, or kill the aliens. They mainly run around a forest and a huge labyrinth of tunnels that just happen to run under this extremely small town. Of course the fighting aliens slowly kill the stupid humans until the three smartest (or luckiest) survive. Oh and the director decides to be clever at the end and shows us the surviving "hunter" alien is actually a humanoid looking alien who after bagging his trophy is just in a hurry to go back to his family and happens to smoke cigarettes. Oh and he looks forwarding to coming back to Earth because he has found a worthy opponent. Give me a break.

The special effects are pathetic. The acting is pathetic. But the most pathetic part of the movie is the labyrinth of tunnels that run underneath this extremely small town. I grew up in a small town and I really don't remember tunnels running underneath my town. Maybe I didn't look hard enough. Or maybe I am just lucky that I am not a screenwriter who couldn't come up with one original or probable idea for a movie.

I love "B" movies but this movie is not a "B" movie, it is totally "D." Not even William Katt could save this movie. He just came across as old and tired. This movie is old and tired. I give the movie 0 out of 5 stars.
