Wow, a new AVP game right? WRONG! Here we go again. This is the same AVP game that a lot of us already own reloaded so it will run in XP and Vista. I have played this game already under Windows 98, and even still own the original disks.

I was excited to download this demo because I am a big fan of this game franchise. Imagine my surprise when the exact same game loaded that I have played until my hands were numb. The graphics are still just as low res as they always were. The shadows are still exactly as dark and hard to see in as always. The game hasn't changed one bit. I am shocked and appalled that Fox Interactive would play such a foul trick on the gaming community. Instead of just releasing a patch that would bring us all up to date, they are re-releasing the same game as though it were a new game. I can see re-releasing it as a greatest hits game, or if they would update the graphics and controls then bill it as a release of a HD version. But instead they are acting as though the gaming community has that short of a memory that we wouldn't instantly recognize the low-res graphics and hard edged shadows.

If you are an AVP fan then this is a great addition to the list of games you already own. If you already own this game you will probably be very disappointed that Fox Interactive hasn't changed anything but will still enjoy playing this classic game again. Look forward to HOURS of thrilling, wall climbing, marine killing combat with a rich storyline most of us will remember well. I will be purchasing this game simply because I, like most of the AVP fans out there, really enjoyed this game and was shocked when it wouldn't run under XP or Vista.

Gameplay 4 stars (this was and remains one of the best first person shooter franchises)

Graphics: 2 stars ( this was 4 star graphics 10 years ago, now it is so low res that I almost gave it a 1 star. But it is still AVP after all)

Fun: 4 stars (I love this franchise, nothing bad here. The aliens climbing the walls and roof have always been awesome and the predator weapons own!)

Playability: 3 stars (this game still has the hard to see shadows. This was the one downside to this game 10 years ago and hasn't changed)

Controls: 3 stars (I didn't see any options for gamepads or alternate controls. It is still just keyboard and mouse. Perhaps the full version will fix that.)

Overall: 3 stars (if Fox interactive had just upgraded the graphics or shadow pixels it would have been a great re-release)

***Star Rating system is based on 4 stars for best, 3 stars for great, 2 stars for fair, and 1 star for just okay. A no star rating means the game is horrible.
