16-Year-Old Phenomenal on American Idol's March 17 Show

American Idol served up another week of country music with a salute to the Grand Ole Opry the best of country music. Alison Iraheta chose the Patty Loveless favorite 'Blame it on Your Heart.' This girl may only be 16 years old but she blew the roof off the audience on the March 17 show. She sang this song like a woman who knew the story well and it came from her soul.

Alison has established herself as a front runner in this years Idol contest. Every week she consistently shows us what a set of pipes she had. Paula Abdul said it right when she said, "You could sing the ABC's and make it sound good." This young lady certainly can sing absolutely anything and make it sound phenomenal.

While staying true to the artist Alison also managed to make this song her own. She worked the stage like she had been born to it. She showed everyone a little bit of sass and proved she is a force to be reckoned with. If I had to select a winner right now my choice would be Alison Iraheta. She has powerhouse vocals and constantly delivers.

Not only is the young lady a wonderful singer, I have to compliment her style. She shows off a classy flare that is far beyond her age. It seems to match hand in hand with her vocal ability. There are not enough glowing words to give to Alison Iraheta. But if Patty Loveless was watching tonight I think she would have been impressed. To think that voice came out of such a young lady is amazing. She has the control and the power of a woman twice her age. And yet she has the innocent grace that her age might suggest. She was a sparkling star tonight in a bunch of otherwise lack luster performances. This young lady certainly has this writers vote.
