Alix Kermes: Just a Regular Teen - All About the Rising Teen Star

Upon first look, or if you glance really fast, you might think that she's one of the Olsen twins. No, it's not Mary Kate or Ashley. It's 13 year old Alix Kermes. Alix knows that she looks like one of the famous twins, and is pretty easy-going about it. As a matter of fact, she has a picture of the twins and her own photo super-imposed on it with the word "Triplets" written across the bottom on her MySpace page. That just goes to show you her good-natured sense of humor.

Many people agree that Alix is a "regular kid", even though she has appeared in several films and television shows, including Gilmore Girls. Alix resides in a small own in Minnesota with her mom Johnna, dad Tony, sister Sage and Brother Levi. Besides her human family members, Alix also has several furry relatives including 10 cats, two goats, a guinea pig named Snowball, a dog named Bernard and even a registered quarterhorse named Jacky's Classy Bee. Needless to say, Alix has plenty to keep her busy and entertained at home.

Unlike many other teen stars, Alix attends public school where she is a good student. As you can imagine, Alix has plenty of friends. Her friend Morgan describes Alix as an "amazing individual that you want to know." Alix spends as much time with her friends and family as she can, then travels to Los Angeles or any other location with her mom when she has an assignment.

Alix started modeling at the very young age of 2, doing print work and commercials. She was later cast in a student film, and other roles soon followed. In 2003, Alix was cast as "Lily" in a spinoff series of Gilmore Girls, which ended up airing on television as an episode of the main show. A couple of years later, Alix landed the role of Page Austin on the UPN show Kevin Hill, for which she won a Young Artist Award in 2005. Since then, she has been a mentor for her younger sister, Sage, who has also just started acting. As a matter of fact, 10 year old Sage was just nominated for a Young Artists Award for her role in the film Sweetland.

Besides acting and traveling, Alix has a lot of other interests. While she does not yet have her drivers license, Alix loves to drive smaller vehicles. During nice weather, you can find her four wheeling or go-carting. When it snows (as it usually does in chilly Minnesota), Alix loves snowmobiling with her friends. Not everything she rides needs to be powered by gas, though. She can often be seen horseback riding on her family's large property. "Alix will ride anything that goes fast or try what is a challenge for her," says her mother Johnna.

Alix gets along in any kind of weather, too. She loves the snow, and enjoys the beach. She even knows how to boogieboard and surf, which she does as much as she can while she's in New York or California for filming. This girl even rock climbs and swims. One thing is for sure - She'll never be at a loss for something to do while she is on vacation.

Even though Alix really enjoys being active, she has her quiet moments as well.  If she's in the mood to be alone, she will either read or write. If she is in the mood for company, Alix will break out a chess board or a game of Monopoly.

Alix is an incredible person to be around. Her enthusiasm is absolutely contagious, as is her bubbly laugh. She's laid-back and very easy-going. It is no wonder that she has so many friends. And, believe me, I know. During the Teen Trend Prom Showcase Series, Alix hosted the showcases in Columbus, Ohio and Scottsdale, Arizona and I had the pleasure of spending time with her. Rather than sitting in her dressing room like so many other celebrities that I have encountered, Alix hung out with the other teens that were modeling in the showcase, had dinner with everyone, and even mixed and mingles with the crowd at the event. Alix even went so far as to not only sign autographs, but pose for pictures with many people. Throughout it all, Alix had a big, bright smile on her face.

While Alix is just 15 years old, she certainly has a good head on her shoulders. She wants to graduate high school and go to college, and see what happens from there. She truly loves acting, and hopes to continue for a while perhaps branching out into more serious projects. This is one girl that you really need to keep an eye on. There is no doubt that she will be making a big splash very soon.
