Tramadol, also known as Ultram, Ultram ER, and Ultracet is a painkiller whose users can be prone to addiction. Ultracet is Tramadol and acetaminophen.

What is Tramadol?

Tramadol is a pain reliever that is similar to a narcotic. It is prescribed for moderate to chronic pain. It is classified as an opiate agonist and changes the way the body sense pain.

What does Tramadol look like?

Tramadol tablets are shaped like capsules and film coated. The generic Ultram ER pills are time-release white tablets.

What are the side effects of Tramadol?

Some of the side effects of tramadol are dizziness, weakness, sleepiness, difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, headache, uncontrollable shaking of a part of the body, muscle tightness, moodiness, and more. More serious side effects include seizures , sores on the inside of your mouth, nose, eyes, or throat , flu-like symptoms, hives, rash, difficulty swallowing or breathing, swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, eyes, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs and hallucinations.

Is Tramadol addictive?

Tramadol can be habit-forming and should only be taken as prescribed. In addition, you should not stop taking this drug without checking with your doctor, as you will have withdrawal symptoms. There of side effects associated with discontinuing use of tramadol are nervousness; panic; sweating; difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep; runny nose, sneezing, or cough; numbness, pain, burning, or tingling in your hands or feet; hair standing on end; chills; nausea; uncontrollable shaking of a part of your body; diarrhea; and hallucinations.

Who should avoid taking tramadol?

You should not take tramadol if, you are allergic to tramadol or other opiate pain or cough medications, if you re taking some herbal drugs. You should also not take it if you have or have ever had seizures; an infection in your brain or spine; a head injury, a brain tumor, a stroke, or any other condition that caused high pressure inside your skull. Pregnant people or people planning to get pregnant should not tramadol. Your dentist or surgeon should know if you are taking it.

What are the side effects of Tramadol?

What does a Tramadol overdose look like?

A person who has overdosed on Tramadol may have decreased pupil size, difficulty breathing, extreme drowsiness, unconsciousness, coma, seizure, or heart attack. Should someone experience an overdose call the local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If they are unconscious or not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

Is Tramadol an addictive drug?

Long-term users of Tramadol can become addicted. It is an opiate analgesic and classifies as a narcotic. To prevent addiction one must be diligent about discontinuing the medication after surgery, and investigate other drug options for chronic pain issues.
