Bamboo certainly has become a popular choice in many aspects of home decorating today being used in flooring, blinds and often times even as houseplants. Part of the appeal of bamboo is that it is a wonderful way to add a natural wood-tone element without spending a fortune. Because bamboo grows so quickly it is considered a renewable resource (unlike old growth hardwood trees) which helps to keep the cost of bamboo home decorating items down in an affordable range. However, despite its low price, bamboo never looks cheap but instead adds a measure of warmth and nature that can make a room feel like home.
Bamboo curtains are made differently than bamboo blinds. With bamboo blinds, small pieces of bamboo are sewn tightly together in a horizontal screen that then rolls up and down to conceal your window. Bamboo curtains, on the other hand, are made with long, bamboo beads that are strung vertically from separate strings. The strings are then attached one right next to another to a long board that goes across the top of the curtain. The bamboo used to make bamboo curtains usually is much larger in diameter than that used to make bamboo blinds and allow more light through.
Often times vertical bamboo curtains are painted with Asian themed pictures or artwork to give them a bit of extra flair. They also can be purchased in a natural bamboo finish without paint, or stained darker to match with darker wood furniture and decor. Bamboo curtains are quite versatile and can be used both indoors and out since they are very durable. It is recommended that if you do use them outdoors you bring them inside during the winter in order to avoid cracking or freezing.
Along with being used as a traditional curtain over a window or a door, bamboo curtains can make lovely wall hangings or even full wall coverings if you want to create a room with a lot of texture and a very natural feel.
Bamboo curtains are a fun and affordable way to bring a touch of nature into your home without breaking the bank. They also can add a lot of textural interest to a room that is otherwise flat and boring. You can purchase bamboo curtains and most curtain stores, online, or at import stores. Shop around and make sure you are finding the best bamboo curtains for your money.
