All My Children's Kendall Hart Slater - Alicia Minshew

Kendall Hart Slater. The independent, illegitimate, and ornery daughter of the All My Children icon, Erica Kane. Addicts to All My Children have watched the character of Kendall Hart grow in fits and starts. The first Kendall was played by Sarah Michelle Gellar. Gellar, who climbed to celebrity heights as Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a pipsqueak compared to the Kendall Hart hired in January of 2002.

Alicia Minshew is a force to be reckoned with - and an exciting one at that.

When Minshew burst upon the All My Children scene in 2002, it was as if a dose of fresh air had rushed into the show. First seen in the Pine Hotel, smoking a cigarette, with her hair on top of her head, she and Ryan Laverly, (Cameron Matthison) were fire and ice. The combination of Ryan and Kendall lit the screen and viewers were tuning in for their daily fix, not being able to get enough.

As Minshew grew into the role, the character of Kendall, grew into a multi-faceted woman. Although, still the child of Erica, she became a stand alone personality of her own. The persona of Kendall Hart is one of humor, feistiness, and compassion - with courage thrown in for good measure. Viewers take pleasure in the electrifying chemistry that Minshew seems to develop with each character on All My Children. From the passionate scenes with Ryan and Zach - to the touching scenes with Bianca - and more recently, Babe - Minshew corners the market on finding just the right emotional chord to play.

Alicia Minshew was born in Plantation, Florida and enjoys her large Italian family roots. She has many interests and enjoys swimming, long-distance running, weight training, aerobics and dancing. Alicia also loves playing the piano and writing. These have been playing a secondary role, lately, however, due the heavy commitments of her daily appearances on All My Children.

Luckily, escaping, the claws of the Satin Slayer, at last view she was at home with Spike, her son with Ryan - and had just found out she is pregnant. All of this, of course, is happening to Kendall Hart, not Alicia - although she is so entrancing in the role, sometimes its hard to tell the difference.

Alicia Minshew symbolizes the soap opera's next generation of strong women. Tough, comical, stimulating and kindhearted, Alicia Minshew, as Kendall Hart Slater, is All My Children's best actress bar none.
