Throughout his lengthy career, Denny Hamlin has been fortunate enough to capture many victories on the track and to participate in many noteworthy races around the United States. Hamlin has raced in Nascar's Busch and Craftsman Truck Series, where he made his Busch series debut at Darlington Speedway. Darlington Speedway is dubbed as "The Track Too Tough to Tame". Throughout his lengthy career, Hamlin has also triumphed through some outstanding victories. Some victories included winning the 2006 Budweiser Shootout in Daytona, obtaining 4 victories in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, and becoming the first rookie in NASCAR history to qualify into Chase for the Sprint Cup.
Not only for his remarkable wins on the track, but there were some major victories for Hamlin off the track as well. Hamlin had a growing concern for children and youth who suffered from illnesses such as Cystic Fibrosis and Pediatric Cancer. Founded in 2008, the Denny Hamlin Foundation is used to raise awareness about these major illnesses. Early in 2009, he also opened his first two Denny Hamlin Speedwash locations in Midlothian, Virginia. These two facilities include race car memorabilia, photos and merchandise. People who drive in to get their car washed can pay anywhere from $6-$30 depending on how much detail he/she wants for their vehicle.
In his free time, Hamlin enjoys watersports, online racing leagues, watching sports, and playing basketball. He splits his time between Uptown Charlotte and Mooresville, North Carolina.
