But I can never tell you
And I know you love me
But I pray you never tell me
Or in your arms I may find me
You were all I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Your voice, your touch
A long talk or a silent night
That was all I ever needed
You were never perfect
And I was far from it
But we relied on each other
To hold the other up
When our faults knocked us down
I thought I had to show you
Each and every day
How very much I loved you
I thought I had to stand by you
Each and every day
You thought that if I loved you
You must be better than me
You thought I would always love you
So you never had to show me
That I meant something, anything at all
You thought it was OK to push me
To send me over the edge
You thought it was OK to break me
To let me cry alone
Till I drowned in my own tears
You threw me away without a thought
You chased a rainbow
But found no gold
And now you want me to hold you
To say it's all OK
So though I still love you
I can never tell you
And I know you do love me
But I pray you never tell me
Or in your arms I may find me
