Freestyle rapping is said to have its origin from the African American culture. Hip Hop is considered to be the core of freestyle rapping. During the 70s, there was immense competition amongst MCs, which is believed to have given rise to freestyle rapping. The competition was so severe that they would do anything to outperform the competitors to an extent of even disrespecting the opponent with freestyle rap. This rivalry and intense desire to out beat the competitors with creative style led to the emergence of freestyle rapping. The idea behind freestyle rapping is still the same, to outperform your competitor through witty and rhythmic words.
"8 Mile" was an Oscar winning movie which contributed a lot to the popularity of this music genre. The movie pictures a young rapper who struggles with his anger through music. One must have seen many films in the recent past which is centered towards free style rapping. The liking of the crowd towards this music has the potential to draw the audience towards the movie theatre, thus making it a blockbuster.
Freestyle rapping does not necessarily require any experience or script to get started. You can rap about anything under the sky. The audience is aware that it's freestyle, if you are able to find rhythmic words with good mixture, you might be able to get a cheer from the audience. The best part is that you can practice rapping anywhere, from your shower, to your drawing room, or any other place you can think of. Performers even use free style rapping to create a song.
The television across the world is flooded with freestyle rapping shows. Rap battles have become immensely popular in Asia as well as in American countries. Rap battles are considered the extreme form of entertainment and joy. Humor, insult, talent are all a part and parcel of the rap battle.
Rap artists are treated with great respect across many countries for the skill they possess. The art demands lots of practice and devotion of time. Freestyle rapping is considered one amongst the most creative music genre as it demands a performer to think on the spot with something improvised which can hold and entertain the audience on their seats.
