All My Friends on Facebook Have Turned to Cartoon Characters!

Curious as to Why All the Familiar Faces Are Now Cartoon Characters? Find Out Why Here

Abused children. Once again, people are complaining saying things like "how does this raise awareness?" Well just like the "I like it on..." it is not the actual changing of the picture that will raise awareness. It is not like childhood abuse will magically fade away because you now have a retro cartoon as your avatar. People making these comments are looking past the point. Every time someone sees these avatars, they will be reminded of the atrocities being perpetuated against children everyday.

According to the Facebook page Change your profile picture to a cartoon character campaign "66,601 People Like This" and that's the people who took the time to click the like button. There are many more who have changed their avatar without pressing "like", so I'd say that's some kind of awareness going on.

Just remember when you see these characters what it is really about. Maybe it will even inspire some people to help in other ways like volunteering or donating to charities who help these innocent, helpless children.

Interesting idea. Facebook is definitely getting the word out on a lot of things.

I have observed that. I just have not been able to get into that cartoon character.

I sometimes feel as if I live in a cartoon, but that's beside the point. I believe that anything that brings awareness and encourages participation in a worthy cause, even if it's something as silly as creating a cartoon character for yourself.

Through the nostalgia of cartoons, many adults remembered what it was like to be a child.

I had wondered what was going on. I even asked a FB friend and she wasn't entirely sure!

I didn't know that's why people were doing this. Great idea.
